“Pleasant Outdoor area for recreation”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

Though not fully refurbished, this well known and popular spot of south Mumbai is a good one for an outing. The whole of the Marine drive's walking area has not been done up yet but what has been completed is good for walking, running or just sitting and watching the traffic or the Arabian sea on the other side. Popular as the area is, it is crowded at all times of the day! There is space though for everyone and the boundary wall abutting the sea has comfortable seating. Hawkers selling beverages and snacks abound. At the southern part of the Marine Drive, parking along the road is possible, but as one heads north, this is not an option. One can spend many hours at the Marine Drive just sitting and watching life go by or even take a drive from one end to another, preferably on a weekend when the road is likely to have less traffic. This is one of the most iconic Mumbai roads which is fairly well maintained, popular and must see on the list of any visitor to Mumbai. An evening visit has the added advantage of revealing the lights dotting the road, which give it the popular moniker - Queen's Necklace. Anytime of the day is good enough for a visit to the Marine Drive.

“Nice to walk in the mornings!”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

I go with my husband to take a long walk there on Sundays when I am in Mumbai. It is clean and nice in the early hours on Sunday. No traffic hence, no fumes! You see quite a few people and dogs walking or sitting on the wall. Since they put up a public Toilet under the bridge.. it is not so nice after lunch time.. the wind blows the smell all the way. They have the track marked on the floor so you know how many Kms you walked! Good idea!

“Real mumbai with history”
Reviewed 20 April 2012

Its a 2-3 km long road parallel to sea. There is wide pedestrian area parallel to road and sea and people gather here mainly in evening to enjoy the vibrant sea. Wankhede stadium and other prominent structures are present in area. Its a very calm and less crowded area having offices, hotels and residentials of rich people (property rate very high). If you are a couple, do come here in evening at sunset and enjoy sea by siting on the man made boundary....one can easily reach most conveniently from CST railway station.
