This was a decent budget hotel with good amenities. WARNING there is NO AC in its attempt to be 'green'. The hotel had a country club feel to it though it is infested with monkeys. Restaurant was decent with a great coffee shop.

Very basic room. Extremely noisy street. Grounds are expansive but not terribly interestingly. I would have been reasonably happy with our stay had it cost 1/2 as much. Of all the places we stayed in India, this was our least favorite.

If we return to Mysore we will stay at the Metropole. We had dinner there one night and loved the place. A bit more expensive but it would have been worth it.

Room Tip: If you do stay here, opt for the main building. But note that they are (even) more expensive so I...

The concepts is Good, that;s where the Good Ends.

Let me the list the issues that upsets me.

The Hotel is infested with monkeys. The staff is not doind anything to get rid of them, infact I saw them feeding the monkeys in the morning that encourages then to visit again.

One of the animal even tried to pounce on my daughter. As we were in the room and the door was locked he kept pushing the door but could not get to open it.

The complimentary breakfast donot have a choice, I felt sorry that we ordered pancakes as they were the worst tasting cakes I have ever had.

The Garden Annex their new wing is always noisy from the sound of the Garded restaurant.

Lets count the GREEN INITITATIVES they are taking.

You will get unwashed towels and will get them when you ask for fresh ones.

The bathroom will have only the cheapest soap "MARGO" that's the brand. No shampoo, no conditioner, no toothpaste, no toothbrush nothing they expect you to live like an animal in the name of GREEN.

The main palace building that we visited was dark and smelly. thankfully we did not decide to stay there as the building is too close to a very busy highway.

The food quality is bad to be precise.

They charged us Rs. 80 for a glass of milk for my 2 yr old daughter. I would not mind it if the service was equally matched with the price.

The only good place is the Malgudy Cafe. But one can visit it if you are staying some place else.

The menu was as expensive as the Lalit Palace Hotel. Which is one of the best in Mysore.

The beds are very uncomfortable to sleep, and I had continuous back ache throughout the stay.

I should add kindly do not go by the good reviews, as they are misleading.

By all means Mysore is an inexpensive city to travel and eat, but the Green Hotel was a complete RIPOFF.

Room Tip: Don't choose to stay at all. The windflower Spa is a better option at the same price.

We stayed at this hotel on two occasion during our trip. The place is great. The staff wonderful. The travel desk is now outsources and not reliable. They rented a car for us that took us to the wrong place on purpose. They take you to the tourist spots instead of the place you ask them to take them. So we asked to be taken to "A Cauvery emporium" they took us to "Kavari emporium". The problem is one is the official one and sells silk at the proper price. Other is a tourist trap with 100% markup. The management has lost control of travel desk.

The princess room is nice but very noisy.

Food is great however, the kitchen an get overwhelmed quickly and wait times can increase. OS make sure you have plenty of time for a meal.

Room Tip: Choose a standard room in the new block. They are cheaper and better.

The hotel itself is beautiful both inside and out - it used to be used for films before becoming a hotel! We stayed in the main building in the Maharinis Suite which included a 4 poster bed, large bathroom and sitting room. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed having breakfasts and dinners outside in the lovely garden. The hotel is a few kms from the centre of Mysore and so we tended to go back to the hotel in the evenings and eat there as the food was so good. Being veggie I can recommend the paneer makhani and the malai kofta. The western style food didn't look quite as appealling to be honest but I didn't try it myself.
All profits from the hotel go to charity as I understand it and local people are employed. The Green Hotel can only be a good thing can't it?
TOP TIP whilst in Mysore visit the zoo - it was really very good - allow at least 2 hours.
