A must see in Shimla - full of fascinating old photographs from the days of the Raj. The excellent Manager gives regular short, amusing talks, and explains some of the details of this tiny historic theatre.

Opened in 1887 and designed on the lines of a Victorian London theatre, it is still active in producing plays. For a few Rupees you can tour the theatre, where Rudyard Kipling performed his works. You need about 20 minutes to see this attraction, which is closed for lunch between 1.30 and 2.00 pm.

Very good explanation from the resident guide who gave a good insight into the history of the theatre and who had been involved over the years - very interesting. Michael Palin and Rudyard Kipling have performed here!

This theatre was well worth a visit, the guide was informative and explained the theatre.s history quite concisely. The theatre has much in common with theatres all over the British Empire, that one was a jewel.
