We stayed at this hotel in November for 2 nights. When we arrived we were very impressed with the lobby, gardens and pool but the room was horrible. In need of a total renovation and very small. Considering the room rates, wifi should be complimentary - but there is a charge.
The breakfast was excellent and staff in the restaurant were very helpful but the reception staff were very unhelpful.

We stayed here for a total of three night's during our recent trip to India.
On arrival i noticed that the booking in form showed just one night bed & breakfast, and no
mention of the second night's stay before we began our tour, also we had a package that incl
dinner on the first night this was missing as well.
So despite having the paper work clearly showing this,
the desk staff were totaly unwilling to accept this, we decided to leave it to our tour guide
to sort out when we met him later, and paid for a meal outside by the pool.
The tour guide did address this with the manager and it was agreed we could have our meal
that had been paid for on the second night.
Our room was fine.
The following day when we returned from our city tour it was a supprise to find our room keys
would not work, and when we gained access to our room it had not been touched at all.
We can only guess that between our tour c.o. kuoni and the Hotel there had been a breakdown
in communication as to how many nights we were staying for.
We did get our meal that night as arranged.
When we went to check out the following morning you can guess what appeard on our bill.
Yes the already paid for evening meal!
More debate between tour guide and manager and finaly we were given a correct check out
invoice.
This hotel has invested a lot on decor but my wife and i feel they should invest more on training
there front of house staff whome we found to be quite curt and off handish.
One of the other reviews talks about changing Rupees back to sterling we found you can only do this at the airport on your way out of the country, and you should keep the slips showing how much you have converted whilst in India.

The lobby is lavish with Euro style wall murals and marble sculpture. The rooms desperately need an upgrade. For me business hotels need a good gym that is accessible and fast wireless internet. The gym does not open till 7am and closes by 10pm. The wireless internet is unreliable. The rooms are clean, quiet and basic. Bathrooms need money spent on them. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the Royal Plaza twice during our time in India. We were impressed our room was ready by 8am as we arrivrd very early from our flight. However, due to the time we arrived we were not greeted and offered a drink as the guests that arrived after us were. The standard rooms were comfortable but a bit on the small size; especially compared to the other standard rooms we had in India. The breakfast was ok but nothing special, but was enough to set you up for the day. Our biggest issue was the attitude of some of the staff at reception. They came across as rude and not really bothered. We used the currency exchange on our arrival which was fine, but on our last night when we went to change the Rupees back to Pound Sterling they said they couldn't do it, but wouldn' offer a reason why. This hotel is fine to use as an overnight stay if moving on elsewhere in India, but I wouldn't choose it if staying in Delhi for more than 1 night. The hotel as an opulent reception and tries to give the image of a 5* hotel; however there are things that let this image down.

I stayed at The Royal Plaza several times during 2012 whilst working on projects in Delhi. I was welcomed by the concierge staff on every ocassion as a returning guest. I found the service in the coffee shop friendly and helpful. The hotel has a small but well maintained and friendly gym. The garden environment around the swimming pool is an excellent place to relax after a busy week. The accounting staff were efficient in sorting out any issues with checking out bills. The room was well maintained by the friendly housekeeping staff.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the garden/swimming pool.
