SEVANA GUEST HOUSE on Peradeniya Road which is walkable from City centre. This guest house is very neat, affordable, homely and tourist friendly in Kandy. Money's worth goes for a long way. I have stayed at this place last month for 3 nights (30th Jun - 03rd July 2011).I stayed in a room with balcony facing the road, attached bath room with Air conditioning ,hot shower. Room was very clean with whitening linen. And it is close to bus and raliway station. I had daily breakfast with home made Jams, toast . The last day dinner - Dosa (South Indian) was really tasteful and very much homely. The owner of this place Ms. Shakunthala is courteous, very helpful and informative. Owner's family is a small but lovely with local culture..Support staff (Mekala - Geetha & ..........)are very efficient. You can stay peacefully and securely. They also arrange for local visits both by 3 wheeler as well as by car. They had arranged for me Ayurvedic massage at a near by place which was worthwhile.
Very convenience. Certainly, I will stay with them in all my trips.

Staying at Sevana Guest House for one night based on tripadvisor reviews was one of the best decisions I have made so far. The details about the guest house was so accurate and we knew exactly what to expect and thus had no disappointments.

A non-A/C room was just about $20 a night on Room Only basis. The room was clean and the furniture relatively new or very well maintained. The bathroom was small but well-maintained and clean. (Although I wish they had a shower curtain to separate the shower area from the rest of the bathroom to prevent it from getting wet)

The guest house is strategically placed quite close to the Kandy town. The town is 5-10 mins away from the town if you're walking.

We did not have any meals at the inn so cannot comment on it, however there are cheap options at the town itself.
e.g - The Pub, White House Restaurant etc.

The staff is very friendly and helpful especially since it's a family owned place. However, if you are travelling in your own vehicle, please keep in mind that there is no parking facility available here.

Verdict: Highly recommended for all budget travellers! Will definitely be staying there everytime I visit Kandy!

We arrived page in the evening and the owner/housekeeper was friendly and showed us straight to our room. We made a mistake thinking we'd booked a/c but it was no problem as the other booking didn't show.

Breakfast was good - papaya juice, omelette and toast with homemade jams(400rps/pp). We ate one dinner there of homemade curry which was tasty and filling.(700rps/pp).

Our room was clean, tidy and had a balcony overlooking the busy street below. Our room wasn't cleaned on any of the 3 nights we stayed, but that was fine for us. The clock tower(centre of Kandy) is less than 5 mins walk and the station is around 10 mins.

Through the guesthouse we arranged a trip to Sigiriya and the driver and vehicle was fantastic. We also arranged a trip to Pinnawella and the owner drove us in his own car! Brilliant and unexpected service.

All in all, a great choice as a base to explore from.

Excellent guesthouse. Good location 5-10 minutes walk to Kandy's Main street, dalady vaidya. great staff, the women Shakunthala obviously has experience dealing with foreign tourists and her family as well. they treated us so well. And she was very responsive on email prior to our arrival. also it was amazing value for money

The rooms were spotless, and the furniture brand new. bathrooms impeccable. hands down the best place we stayed in Kandy and I strongly recommend it! Didnt get to try to food sadly but loved it.
