“Brilliant 12 night tour of Sri Lanka ”

Chandis SriLankan Tours
Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

I was recommended Chandi as a driver by a friend who visited Sri Lanka in 2014.

I contacted Chandi one week before travel and he informed me that he was already booked on another tour but could arrange for his brother, Rohitha to drive us.

From start to finish we couldn't have hoped for a better experience. Rohitha was waiting at the airport in the paying area with my name on a sign. Our flight was delayed and I'm sure he'd been waiting a while but he greeted us with a huge smile and welcomed us warmly to the country.

He drove us to the hotel in Colombo, throughout the trip he navigated the roads expertly and safely. The roads are pretty crazy but we never felt at danger.

We visited Colombo, Galle, Mirissa, Tangalle, Ella, Kandy and Negombo.

Rohitha was on time for pick up every single time without fail. Nothing was too much for him. He even arranged and drove us to the Yala national park for a safari which meant he had a 3am start. He was gracious and polite throughout and he was happy to make suggestions for restaurants and tours.

Our penultimate stop was Kandy, near his home town. He gave us a great tour of the city, tooth temple, botanical gardens and we invited him and his family for lunch at Bamboo garden which was great.

We would highly recommend Rohitha as a driver for anyone looking for a safe and enjoyable tour of Sri Lanka. Thank you Chandi for arranging and facilitating a fantastic holiday for us.

We have had an amazing 1 week trip in Sri Lanka last week!
Mr Chandima was our Driver, Travel Guide during the entire trip!
He has a very clean and comfortable almost new Toyota Hiace Micro Bus and he drives with a lot care of the passengers as well as the vehicle! He was always there with us on time, advised us where to go and what to see. I can only just recommend to have Mr Chandima as a Driver/Tour Guide for your entire trip! I believe it has helped us to save not just money but also time and anxiety!
Don't hesitate to contact Mr Chandima by email! He would definitely reply you back the same evening!

For the past five years we have asked Chandima to plan and organise a tour to differnt parts of Sri Lanka. As these previous tours had been perfectly organised and absolutely fantastic we asked him to plan something for one week for this year. The tour was to include a train journey, trekking and a bird sanctuary. Our train journey began in Induruwa where we had rented a house for one month. The railway runs parallel to the West coast seashore and is stunningly beautiful. Changing trains at Colombo Fort central station we took the intercity to Kandy. As the train climbed into the Hill Country the views became more and more spectacular. The next day in Kandy Chandima organised a tour of the Pellekale International Cricket Stadium and a visit to Bahiravakanda Buddha. The perfect day was completed by a typical Sri Lankan meal consisting of rice and curry in possibly the best eatery in Kandy. The next day we travelled to Haputale and Chandi had organised a room with a balcony and view that was stunning. He had also arranged a professional trekker called Shiva for two days. The first day we travelled to Lipton's Seat for the sunrise and then trekked back to  Haputale. The second day we went one stop on the train from Haputale to Idalgashinna, and from there we trekked 16 km to the 241 metre high Bambarakanda Waterfall, which is the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka.  From there we took a tuktuk to the main road and then got on a local bus and travelled for 20 kms back to Haputale, where we relaxed on our balcony with a cup of tea. The professional trekker Chandi had organised was not only very friendly and helpful, but also a naturalist, botanist and local historian who spoke perfect English. We will definitely come back to do some more trekking with him next year and take him up on his offer of a cookery class with his wife at his home. The next day we drove south towards Tangalle. On the way Chandi had organised our final trek. This was only 5 km long and led to the second highest waterfall, the Diyaluma Falls. On the way we visited a small 200 year old rubber plantation and factory which was both very informative and a nice break halfway to the waterfall.  In the afternoon we reached our cabana by a remote tutle beach, where we were able to observe the turtles at night. This peaceful oasis that Chandi had found for us was also close to the Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary, which we visited the following day for a two hour early evening boat ride on the lagoon and through the mangroves. We have been to many bird sanctuaries in Asia, but this must rank as one of the best, plastic is totally forbidden and all boats are man powered, motor vessels being banned there. The tranquil setting of the lagoon was the perfect end to our one week tour with Chandima.

The train journey combined with the trekking and bird sanctuary proved to be absolutely fantastic and far exceeded our expectations. Once more Chandi has excelled himself with his planning and organisational skillls. An extra bonus was his new luxury Toyota minibus. Once again,  thank you very much, Chandima.

We had an amazing time traveling in Sri Lanka with Lali. Our driver was really patient, on time, always here to help and proposed us nice extra activities that we didn't planned but were great. It's really worth having a driver in Sri Lanka, as it helped us to save a lot of precious time and anxiety. Everything was made to just enjoy our trip. I would definitely recommend them to travel around Sri Lanka!

We had a 2 weeks family trip (we were 7 people) with Chandima in january 2018.

We totally recommand Chandima as a driver-guide.

He is ponctual, flexible, safe on the road, he makes a lot of suggestions but let all the decisions to his customers, he knows his country and share his wide knowledge, he speaks very good english, he is funny, etc.

His van is comfortable and always clean.

Not a single negative point with Chandima!
