Unfortunately there were many elements about our stay here that disappointed.

First we were told they overbooked the hotel so we had to go into a smaller room than what we paid for - even though we were travelling with a 2 year old and that left them without a bed to sleep in!!!

Sleep quality was poor - lots of noise from the surrounding area and ambiant light you couldn’t turn off.

The shower was a trickle of luke warm water, but didn’t drain so the whole shower filled up like a bath so the following morning we had to stand ankle deep in freezing water to try rinse again. Not ideal in the very cold temperatures.

The hotel was dark and dingy - never bright and sunny as per the images. Also freezing! It was about 6 degrees celsius outside and always the doors were open and the hotel freezing. Tough when the breakfast room is the main lobby and you’re sitting down to eat in the freezing cold.

Shame because the staff were pleasant and friendly, but overall the hotel stay was unpleasant. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great location in Chaouen. Hicham is the best host. He showed us the ins and outs of the city. He took us to dinner at one of the only places that serves wine because we love wine! He knows his city and people and directed us to whatever we wanted to see or do. Breakfast every morning was lovely downstairs and the rooms had great beds. Its too bad that it rained our entire time there but Hicham made up for it. Incredible host.

We stayed for two nights and were satisfied with the facility. The breakfast was excellent and Fatima was a great cook. The orange juice is fresh squeezed. The view from the roof is excellent! We do advise to take a shower in the afternoon after the water has a chance to heat up. It's no fault of theirs, the systems there take advantage of solar power to provide facilities. The security is very good; there is always staff on site and they are extremely helpful.

If you are in town and in need of a guide (we highly recommend to have one) please ask for Hamza. He was a great guide and showed us everything we wanted to see and helped us stay safe and gave advice. He speaks arabic and spanish and a bit of english.

Room Tip: The rooms are smaller than they look. The city is definitely noisy at night from any angle.

Nice riad in the medina of Chefchaouen, the rooms are white and there's a lot of light, ours had a nice view of the mountain. The things I didn't like were that there were no maps or brochures with info about the town available for the guests and that it was a bit too noisy, especially at prayer times.

We stayed for four nights over New Years in this cozy, charming riad in Chefchaouen and fell in love with the city, largely due to Hicham, who is easily the best host we’ve stayed with in our travels anywhere. He went above and beyond in making us feel welcome in his home, meeting us at the bottom of the hill when we arrived to get our luggage, sharing his lunch his mom made with us in the first ten minutes of our arrival, showing us around Chefchaouen. He’s the warmest host and an absolute delight to stay with- we hated to leave after four days. The riad is in a perfect location in the Médina and there’s a great breakfast, plus restaurants that deliver. After so many tagines over the past couple weeks of travel, our daughter was thrilled to have pizza and spaghetti delivered to her heart’s content. Chefchaouen is also the most gorgeous town - I wasn’t sure it would be worth the very long drive to it, especially in winter, but it was fabulous. The weather was mild, the town is picturesque, and the people were beyond nice. After being in cities like Marrakech and fes it was so nice to spend time in a quiet chill place like Chefchaouen and Riad Zaitouna. We’ve already recommended it to friends.
