We have really enjoyed our stay in Dar Meziana. Especially the staff were so helpful and friendly - they really made our stay very comfortable and lovely.

The room wasn't the most amazing room ever, but at the rate that we've paid for it, it really was good value for money. It was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful tadelakt bathroom.

I loved their little hammam. The lady that gave me the hammam treatment was an absolute joy and she was very thourough and professional. It's not a luxurious 5-star spa experience, but I found it really relaxing and fun, and would definitely recommend it, if you stay in this lovely hotel.

The hotel is located within the medina, but close to one of the gates. Just outside the gates is a parking area where we left our car in the care of Tariq, who has watched over it with eagle eyes for 15 Dh per day. From the parking area you have easy access to roads in all directions.

If you are looking for a nice, friendly place to stay in Chefchaouen, Dar Meziana is a very good choice!

Chefchouen in combination with this Riad was perfect. We chose to walk from the bus station to the Riad which was a 15 minute walk. Easy to find using Google Maps and Here maps. We received fresh tea the moment we walked in and also some information about the Riad.
The room was not very large but it looked fantastic and also the shower was very good. We had room nr 5 directly on the left after entering the Riad. The riad has a roof terrace which we enjoyed in the evening. One evening a house keeper came up offering us minth tea and Morrocan cookies. Some of the hotel keepers don't speak English but are very willing to help in any way they can. I was surprised about the unlimited hospitality of Dar Meziana.
We chose one day to climb the Jebel El-Kelaa which was recommended by the Lonely Planet. Since the Lonely Planet says nothing about how to climb it we found a guide on the internet which we used to climb the top. It took us 6 hours to get from the riad to the top and back. We absolutely recommend this hike if you like to escape the town and go for some hiking.
We initially booked for 2 nights but after these nights we enjoyed Chefchouen so much that we chose to ask for another night, which was possible.
We recommend to buy tickets for the bus one day prior to leaving Chefchouen since we found some desperate people who tried to buy tickets the same day of departure and ending up paying for a grand taxi which is very expensive.
We had to leave early in the last morning since we had to take the bus at 07.00. The housekeeper was not able to be there this early for the breakfast so the owner took us with his car to a place for breakfast, payed the breakfast and brought us to the bus station all for free, he did even refuse the tip we offered. Unfortunately the owner was only in town for the last day but we recommend to meet him and talk with him about the Moroccan culture, hiking and many other things since he speaks very good English and is a very kind person.

We had only one night in Chefchaouen regrettably, and wish we could have stayed many more. But our two days and one night were the best they could be. This hotel provided everything we needed and was nicely situated at the top of the medina with spectacular views from the roof. The decor was so colorful and beautiful; my friend and I felt like princesses! We had a huge breakfast waiting for us which was great before a day of exploring to our heart's content. The staff was very gracious and helpful.

My stay in the riad was excellent, it showed the best level of hospitality i have seen in Morocco.

About the Riad:
The Room is very comfortable, and nice to stay. The breakfast is really tasty, you can have it on the terrace with a great view on the mountains. The location is great - it is in the center of the medina.

About the hospitality:
They helped me to find the riad, helped with the luggage, were always ready to make tea, even payed for my taxi to bus station.
I wanted to go to Akchur water falls, but did not want to take the excursion (just wanted to take the taxi). They did not pushed me to take the excursion (while it is usual for Morocco) and helped with the taxi.

Several tips for the stay in this riad:
- Try the cookies and the tea in the riad (it is great to take it to the room number). The cookies in little pockets were our favourite
- When you come to the riad, ask them to buy you a ticket for the bus from chefchouen (they can do this beforehand, and this is convenient, because it is usually difficult to buy tickets just before the trip)
- Ask them about excursions (they are always ready to help and can call you a taxi)

So I would definitely choose this Riad, if i came back to Chefchaouen.

The view from our room #11 is incredible. Overlooking the whole valley with nothing blocking you. We enjoyed watching sunset with mint tea in our room with windows wide open to the valley below us. The alley lead to the hotel was one of the most beautiful and private one in the medina. The hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. The only down side was the shower water was not hot enough.
