Took the 3day/2nite package last week. Excellent hotel. Water is very clear with some fishes. The snorkeling sessions were OK (1st session), good (2nd session) and excellent (3rd session). Food was only so so and I think should be better than many smaller resort in Redang.
Now More More Tea Inn is a grocery shop, nothing much in there except some souvenirs. Better visit it before more corals are dead.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the sea.

Transportation : By air plane from Subang Aiport to Redang Airport. Laguna Coaches welcome us well at airport for registration and also transferred by aircond van to kampong jetty. Then, transferred for about 15min by big speed boat to Laguna Redang.

Room : We booked a pool view room (#737). Quiet and ideal for relax since got pool view. At night, no sound at all heard from KTV/Disco. Walking distance to Dive Centre about 250m. Its a center of buffet restaurant and dive centre. Its a clean room with 4 bed.
Some comment : Still using small CRT TV, shower pressure is too slow and their bed are too firm.

Dive Centre : Well organized dive centre. Only once they let you setup everything. The next dive day and so on, they will setup and carry everything to the boat. You dont have to carry any single equipment before dive. The best thing is they organized 3 dive per day which is 8.30am, 10.30am and 2pm. All surface interval are on land and not on the boat. Coffee/Tea and hot chocolate are available on self service at dive centre.
Some comment : They don't have minimum diver for 1 dive guide which sometimes carried a big group like 6-7 per guide. For those who stayed longer here and want to explore many site in Redang, please let them know if they planned for repetitive dive on the same place.

Food : Based on 5 day here, food are great. Many choices available like Chinese, Malay and western however the crowd was here which kill the atmosphere.

Environment : For those who seeking private, quiet and tranquility place, this is not the right hotel to choose. For those who seeking some fun and activities, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Garden or Pool View if you want peaceful environment at night. Standard room if you need very close to dive centre.

We went to Laguna Redang Beach resort in August on Honeymoon. We love the island and the resort. The island has so many activities that you will never feel bored or without something to do. The sea is really like it seems in the pictures. Really blue... the sand its very white and thin. It is a perfect place to relax. Even the resort is completely full, the beach has just a few people, usually european people (italians). The asian people allways go to the snorkeling trips or other sea activities.
The snorkeling is wonderful. So many color fishes and beautiful corals. We get a boat from the village and we went to the open sea to see corals and sea turtles (we can even swim after the turtles).
The food in the resort is very good with many options. The continental restaurant has many good options for those who doesn't like the asian food (and the price its good).
The rooms are clean and our particularly room was very good located, with a beautiful sea view. The room bathrooms are not very good but are always clean and that is the most important thing for us.
The people is very very very friendly and are always avaiable to help.

If you are looking for a beach holidays in Asia then you should consider Redang Island and the Laguna Beach Resort though if you are not into snorkeling or scubbing diving you might get a little bored.

We were told about Redang by a travel agent who had sent many customers their and recvd very favorable responses back. It is a little off the beaten track as you can only get to it air i.e. Berjaya airlines or by Ferry....the later is the most favored due to cost. We chose to fly direct from Singapore onto Redang island. Get onto the island itself proved a little tortuous as the customs process took an extrodinary long time....but once their the adventure began. Firstly we were bused to a wharf then onto a boat for a pleasant 20 minute trip to Launga Resort.

The Hotel looks reasonably new has a large and open lobby and welcoming staff. Our rooms were only one block back from the seashore and had a sea view from the balcony, with a large Kingsize bed, good airconditioning, moderate size bathroom, with TV (mainly only local programes), refrigerator/coffee etc.

As the resort is located miles from the main town and is remote from most life their are few options for dining out, except for the other resorts, so our package included all meals in the main Buffett style restaurant on the 1st floor. All meals were smorgasboard type of food, mainly Asian (as large number of Chinese at hotel who come on 2 or 3 day packages). They also offer a premium restaurant, which for 50ringett each u can upgrade too....we did on 3 occassions and didnt regret as the buffett can become a little bland and monotonous.

We read some reviews where they said the beach was a little small and the water cloudy but for the 6 days we were their we found the water nearly crystal clear and plenty of coral fish offshore to see. The huge and awash with whitesand...and only issue was the broken coral on the waters edge that made getting in and out a little difficult.

We found the staff and facilities to be good to very good and the main pool was huge and catered even for the large crowd of families that arrived every day though this did point to one issue. The place is too popular.....lots of packaged 2-3day tour groups (200 arrived one day !), and Star Cruise Lines calls in 4 times a month.....so if u are looking for a little peace and serenity dont count on it. The other resort nearby didnt appear to offer the same level of facilities as the Laguna and appeared to appeal to the younger generation.....especially the Redang Beach Resort, who had very loud bands most nights playing until midnight.

The Hotel also offers two free trips out to the coral reefs for snorkelling, though we avoided them as most of the short term visitors come specifically for the snorkelling crowding out the boats akin to making a half day trip into a commute into the city on a busy freeway.

We cudnt fault the Hotel facilities, location, beach or staff. Had small reservations abt the food though disappointed about how busy the place was so wud only recommend going their if u wanted to find in Malaysia for scuba diving or snorkelling....or in between destinations for a few days rest.

One other downer was the Redang Beach resort 150 mtrs along the beach holding wat sounded like an outside rock concert until midnight on most nights we were there, so dont count on an early evening or quiet stroll along the beach....

Room Tip: The front sea facing rooms near Redang Beach Resort have great views but bear the full brunt of resident rock n roll bands most nights.
