Imperial has always been a favourite of mine especially for business visits. Staffs are friendly and helpful, rooms are up to expectation, and it's central location is definitely a plus point. My personal preference is to go for the one bedroom apartment in the old tower rather than the newer rooms in the new wing. The apartment is more comfortable, functional and feels more at home.

Stayed in the new wing of the Imperial Hotel.
If you have a room without access to sunlight does that make it a jail cell?

Seems most of the rooms here are internal rooms without access to sunlight. The rooms have windows onto an enclosed corridor. It’s weird. By the looks of the layout this would be true of 80% of the rooms.

The room itself is fitted out ok if a little drab. Muted tones of brown. All a bit depressing. I feel sad. Not having outside exposure the rooms sort of are quiet except you hear the internal workings of hotel corridors, plumbing and neighbours quite clearly.

The reception staff were friendly and cheerful. And everything seemed in good condition, clean and well maintained.

But honestly don’t think I could be forced back into one of those cells without a straight jacket. I need light like a plant.

Short one night stay. As usual clean and quiet room. Quite good room service meal and average but acceptable breakfast.
Very Asian hotel, well run and well located for city centre shopping. Would recommend for family or solo. Safe and clean.

Room Tip: High up and sea facing.

Not enough seatings at all at the pool.

When checking with the restaurant if chairs/tables can be moved up as we would like to order some food while waiting for the kids to swim, I was told to eat at the restaurant itself which is a level down from the pool and is hotel management policy that we cant sit and eat nearby the pool. Else, we can order and eat after the kids are done swimming. This is one of the weirdest policy I have ever known and parents basically cant eat and watch out their kids at the same time! Most parents are standing or sitting on the floors while waiting for the kids.

Dear Ai Thin L,

Thank you for choosing Imperial Hotel Miri. Firstly, let me apologize as the messaged conveyed to you about our policy is incorrect. We can certainly serve food at poolside however, due to the crowd and limited space, we are unable to move the dining tables and chairs up to the pool area. Secondly, we acknowledge the lack of seating area at our poolside but again, due to space constraints and safety concerns, we want to ensure space is unobstructed. Your feedback is valuable to us and we will look into this matter to serve you better. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review, have a great day!
