Absolutely loved our stay at voyager ziwani. There is an amazing pond with resident hippos and crocodiles right in the middle of the camp, so it is great for leisurely viewing while drinking tea or eating the delicious meals created by the chef there. It is quite difficult to get to- but that’s all part of the adventure!!! Would absolutely recommend 5*

Loved the new tent on a raised deck by the river with a crocodile on guard. Super views of Mawenzi the second peak on kilimanjaro, crocodies and hipos in the river and dam including fantastic birdlife.
It's on the historical World War 1 route between Voi and Taveta on the Kenyan Tanzania border where the British fought the Germans - and the sites are close to Voyager Ziwani.
Then there's the wildlife in Tsavo West that the camp border and the amazing crater lake Challa and the other lake on the plains - Jipe in the shadow of Pare Mountains that are part of Eastern Arc mountains as are Taita Hills which are en route to Voyager Ziwani and can make for an exciting stay for a couple of days if you like hiking and loking for rare wildlife iike endemic Taita apalis a tiny somgbird of which fewer then 200 exist in the world including Taita thrush.

Room Tip: If you like quaint ask for the original tented accomodation - or the newer luxury ones

Ziwani is a gruelling 7 drive from NBO & that was the short cut our driver took. The other route from Voi takes even longer.

Overall, average lodge in serene settings ; 3.5 Stars

PROS:
• Clear views of Kilimanjaro
• Dam full of hippos & crocs + plenty of resident cheeky monkeys
• Easy access to Tsavo West NP Main Gate.
• Delicious fresh food incl. Starters, Salads, Grills, Accompaniments, Main Course, Veg Options & Desserts.
• Clean rooms but could do with a upgrade.
• Serene settings with plenty trees
• 42 KMS to beautiful Mzima Springs from the Main Gate.
• Saw Giraffes, Gazelles, Buffalos, Salamander, Diks Diks, Warthogs & Zebras.
• Nature walks with local guides.

CONS:
• Long & exhausting drive from NBO, Tsavo West is easier to access from the coast.
• Rooms are quite old & tired looking.
• Better wildlife viewing opportunity in Tsavo East.
• No lounge/sitting area or swimming pool to pass the time.

Room Tip: Some Tents have better views of the Dam eg Tent No.21 onwards.

Great stay at this place, Good food, staff, rooms and view with the hippos and crocodile enjoying their waterhole paradise right in front of the restaurant! The night drive was excellent seeing different nocturnal animals of a wide variety and our guided walk by Chameleon was a real highlight! He is very knowledgeable and funny and is from a local Masai village showing us how his people adapt to life in the bush. all staff were great and we will be back one day!!
