Paradise Resort Phi Phi
Ranked #8 of 39 Hotels in Ko Phi Phi Don
Reviewed 5 January 2009

Our stay here was fine, but we opted not to spend very much time in the room. It seems that everything on Koh Phi Phi is quite expensive, so we weren't looking for a killer deal, but it was still a bit painful to plunk down so much money for what we got.

The room was clean and mostly comfortable, though mosquitoes were a definite problem. Using the mosquito net was a must, but I think this might be the case at any hotel along this beach. The room had a really nice plasma TV with many English language channels. Our room was steps from the beach, which was fantastic. The daily breakfast was nice, and the tables are nicely situated near the beach. The hotel is pretty centrally located on Long Beach, with several resorts on either side with different restaurants or massages to try.

The bathroom, as you've no doubt read in other reviews, was the downfall of the room. I was perplexed that they chose to spend so much money on the TVs, while leaving the bathrooms in their state: a shower that is merely a nozzle in the wall, so the entire bathroom becomes wet. If you take evening showers, any trips you make into the bathroom in the night will result in wet feet -- not fun for climbing into bed! A small fan near the ceiling ventilates the bathroom. Ours did not have a foul odor, as I've read in some other reviews, but it just made me feel that this wasn't the best value.

If we were to go back to Long Beach, we'd probably try the Phi Phi Hill. Though the bathroom definitely wouldn't be worth writing home about, we'd had a few extra Baht in our pockets. Incidentally, Phi Phi Hill also had a nice little beach bar/restaurant where we enjoyed many Chang beers, food, and the company of an occasional beach kitty.

What a fantastic resort. The location is second to none. Very very peaceful but it is a 10 minute longtail boat ride to Phi Phi village (available 24/7 and only 100 baht). There is also quite a lively resort a little further up the beach which includes the Buddha Bar. The bungalows are virtually on the beach (try to get one of the ones in the front row) and are nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and quite big. We had a superior room, which had a huge widescreen TV and a large shower room (not luxurious but perfectly acceptable). The beds are enormous as well. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The other great thing about Paradise were the massages which took place in gazebo's over looking the beach. I would also recommend the Arisa speed boat tour which can be booked from the reception. It takes in all the key sites and you get a nice lunch.

We stayed here in November 2008 - took the risk of ignoring the touts on the ferry and went to the hotel direct once we arrived and saved 500 baht on the price.

Location was lovely. Long Beach is lovely (didn't think much of snorkelling) but really pretty and chilled out. Restaurant by the sea was okay, staff a bit ignorant and ran out of a few things but not end of the world.

What let it down was the rooms. It was the most we had payed for a room in Thailand and it was the worst. We just had an average bungalow - room was basic and bathroom was crap frankly, shower just a dribble and there was a cockroach - which was nothing compared to the mozzies! There were gaps in the door so was easy for the buggers to get it, luckily there was a mozzy net round the bed!

However the location was great and we could walk to the village in 30 mins or get a longboat which was great. Loads of awesome diving & snorkelling spots round about as well as Maya Bay. Pee Pee Bakery was yum & worth a try!

Also just a 2 minute walk up the beach was the buddha bar which did a great fire dancing show and cocktails! See, it's all about location...!

At first I was a little taken aback by the bathroom (clean but primitive) but this place grew on me in about five seconds flat when I realised I was 30 tired, lazy steps from a beach bar with the greatest sandwiches in the world!! The staff, even Mr Grumpy (the receptionist) were freaking amazing - absolutely scarily competent and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day and fresh drinking water supplied. There is so much to do on Phi Phi, even if you lay on the beach all day (taking your rubbish with you, you filthy tourist) that you don't need much in your room. A shower, bed, fridge and air con suffice. I can't imagine anything that could have improved this place...except for a longer stay! If you don't spend you last day in this place devising ways to stay longer - there is something wrong with you.

I would first describe the plus points:
The blue water and clean sand is breathtaking. Its too beautiful to describe in words.
Then to sum it up , there are lots of plants , shrubs , trees with benches to sit.You can have your breakfast adjacent to the sea under shades of trees.
If this was not enough , you get excellent view of mountain in the middle of the sea.picture perfect.
snorkelling and massage on the beach are other feathers to the crown.
Anyone who likes nature must visit this heaven.

Negatives :-
Well the resort hasn't done much except keeping the prices reasonable. The rooms are old. bathrooms not very modern. But ours was clean.Staff was helpful but didn't speak english.
You need to take a long tail boat to reach the resort from teh island.
You can plan to spend 1day and 1 night here.
