We have just left paradise pearl (hut A4) after 4 nights.

The positives: Great view, quiet and amazing beach location. Lovely looking jungle beach huts on the beach and we had a big room and massive patio / balcony. It's also close to tonsai on a 5 min long boat or 30 mins walk, plus there was a free pick up and drop off at the end of our stay. Plus the beach is 30 seconds from your room and it's truly paradise.

Negatives: Old room which needs really need updating. The safe didn't work and the plugs are very low voltage so they don't charge things. shabby & pretty horrible bathroom with cracks in shower and sink and rust everywhere. The Room wasn't cleaned in the whole 4 days we were there - they changed the towels and swept the floor but that was it.

The food at the bar is also average for the price, but the included breakfast was pretty standard and good.

Also we were very disappointed (amongst other things!) when my boyfriend left is wallet accidentally in the room when we left to check out only to have it returned 10 mins later missing his credit and debit card...!

Overall its average and you're paying for the stunning location and if you're looking for a 4 star this isn't place.

Paradise! The location is right on the beach. Serene, romantic, quiet, so much better than Patong. The hotels on Phi Phi are quite expensive and a bit old and tired looking but I am so happy I selected Paradise Pearl. It is true that the room is dark and dated but the position and the surroundings make up for it. With such an amazing landscape and warm water you do not spend much time in the room. The staff are quite laid back and I quite enjoyed it after being exposed to the pushy people in Patong. The Long beach is never crowded. It is great for swimming at high tide (at low tide you need to be careful because of rocks). There is a massage on site - 500 Baht for oil massage, 300 Baht for facial. We booked a 3 hour snorkeling trip from a lady selling drinks at the end of Paradise Pearl (next to Blue Sky resort) for 1500 Baht and I highly recommend it. She speaks good English and has great suggestions of places to see and best time to go. The taxi boats to town are 100 Baht during day and 150 at night. The walk through the jungle is only about 20 minutes long, small part requires climbing with the help of ropes - exciting!

The place is beautiful for itself, however, the staff is very unfriendly and beds is full of fleas. I was bitten all over. The location has a nice beach, but If you need to go to town, you have to get a long tail (100B daytime and 150B night). You can walk 40 minutes instead...

The rooms have a Thai-style, are nice, with air-con, and a reasonable shower. Mosquitoes are not a problem because if you ask they spray insecticide and there are mosquito nets around the bed, and because of air-con they don't bite you. And the beach in front is really beautiful and not crowded.
Long tails take you to Ton Sai and you can ask for a private or shared long-tail to visit other islands and they're just in front of the hotel.
The hotel has a bar, restaurant, mini-market.
There is a fire show very nice (bit scarring) in another hotel next to this.

But...

The staff at Paradise Pearl receives you very badly, and with indifference. Not even a smile, or 'you're welcome', when you say 'thank you' (reception, restaurant, everywhere).
They insist to clean the room even if you say you want it later. Once i asked for they cleaning on the afternoon and 1 hour later (11.30) kind of 'expulsed' from the rooms.
But, unfortunately, this attitudes happen in all Kho Phi Phi place. I try to understand the reason (tourist invasion, disrespect with their culture by some people, etc.), but definitely the way they treat tourists is really bad in comparison to other Thai cities or other Asian countries.
Food at restaurant and breakfast is OK.

And, don't get the tours with this hotel! We booked in a place ~ 30 mts from the hotel, and the woman who sold us gave us better price and a long-tail that departed in the time we chose (6am) to Koh Phi Phi Ley - Lagoon - many snorkel sites - Monkey island (4 hours tours), and to the East part of Koh Phi Phi (4 hours) on the day before. In the hotel they said the same tour only could depart 8.30 am, and for a higher price.
Other bad points:
Wi-fi never worked on my computer, only in my cell phone.

After reading many negative reviews of this property, I was somewhat apprehensive when arriving at the Paradise Pearl. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodation and the staff. We found the staff pleasant and helpful enough. They are typical of island hotel workers of Thai hotel properties, you would find it very different in a Western hotel chain but you would also be paying double. The staff were somewhat limited in English and if you ask too many questions or they don’t understand you they would just walk away and appear rude. They just don’t want to lose face. The guy on reception was friendly, the girl less so pushing tours. The restaurant staff were hit and miss again some very friendly others not so but as I have experienced this, many times, on various island stays over the years it didn’t distract from my stay. I can see why some people would get upset by the service. I also have a Thai partner so they were obviously more comfortable taking orders placed by him. We found the food good value with large portions and good taste. As we enjoyed the food we didn’t bother eating elsewhere. Breakfast was typical fare. We stayed in K2. It was roomy enough but as others have mentioned, very tired and need of an upgrade. This again is very typical of Thai owned properties, they just don’t carry out maintenance or upgrades and unless its broken they just leave it. Our air con looked relatively new apart from that it really needs gutting but it wont be happening anytime soon. That said the room is ok for the location and what you wake up to. It’s a shame as it could be so much better but then the price would then be higher. After all the room is mainly used for washing and sleeping. You are not going there to watch tv! The walk into town is tricky enough, we did it once. Just too hot in April. The taxi boat is 100 baht and 150 during the evening. There were only a few Thais staying at the hotel. Many new islands have been opened up by the government and I’m sure many Thais have moved on to the less touristy ones as Phi Phi clearly is. I last went pre tsunami and it will be a long time until I go back to Phi Phi.

Room tip: worth paying to have K1 - K3
