The hotel is located next to the beach and very close to the temple. Beautiful campus. Rooms are big and comfortable. It is not a luxurious chain kind of hotel but has everything that one might need while traveling. Food is quite nice (Vegetarian). Definitely recommended.

I had dinner from here and it was nice. It was a buffet dinner with lots of south Indian dishes and it was good. It’s a spacious premise. The cost is also cheap. We have paid just 150 for a good buffet dinner with lots of items. It’s a vegetarian restaurant.

Hotel Tamilnadu is situated right next to rhe sea shore and this is a huge deal. It is walkable distance to the temple so you don't have to worry about your vehicle parking. The premises is huge. They have rooms to cater to various types of visits. Bigger families can choose to avail the family rooms, extra beds are provided too. The rooms which can accommodate only two people are a little smaller than expected, but they are neat and well maintained. They have constant electricity and hot water. The restaurant provides free lunch but not free dinner. Breakfast is also complementary. Food is delicious and simple. Value for money is 4/5. I would recommend this hotel over other places in Rameswaram because it is maintained by the tourism department of the state and the standards are good.

We took 3 rooms for 2 nights and we got to see the good and the bad side of this hotel. Hence the average rating.

For the first night...Since we were coming in only at 11 pm...we booked 2 family rooms with 4 beds each. We are a family of 7 adults and 3 children. The first night that we stayed there we got the rooms allotted in the old section. The beds were okayish..hard and felt unclean. The room itself while spacious was strictly ok and required major maintenance. The AC was working only in one room. Thankfully we had to wake up by 4 and start our day...so we stayed in this room only for 5 hours.

The next morning after our puja in the temple we changed in the old room and moved to the new quarters allocated to us... this was 3 rooms with double beds..one with an additional bed. I was pleasantly surprised. The room while very very reasonably priced was at par with a 3 star hotel room. The bathroom was New, clean and had adjacent dressing room. All brightly lit. The buckets, stools etc were all very new. The bedroom in itself was big. The double bed had good comfortable mattresses and also nice chairs and a dining table. There were also 2 comfortable singlensester couches and a coffee table. Additionally there is a big balcony in each room which was handy to dry our clothes.

The hotel is government owned and as always has the best location facing the sea. The breakfast included in the tariff is served in a restaurant which does not serve a la carte. The food is decent. There are hotels nearby as well but nothing to write about. It's about 1km from the main temple and about 500m away from the agni theertham. There is a coffee and snack shop right at the gate facing the sea. Overall a budget friendly place. Will stay there again.

The new rooms are excellent. I would give them 4 star. The old rooms are very poor. So 2 star for that. Reception and service is below average. House keeping is average. Hope they maintain the new rooms well.
