Booked a last minute trip to Roatan to close out the summer and settled on Blue Bahia. It was everything we hoped for. Quiet and Relaxing. Room was very clean and the beds were great. Management and the staff couldn't have been nicer and helpful throughout the stay.

After visting many islands and resorts throughout the caribbean, central & south america over the years, We recently have found THE perfect place at the Blue Bahia on Roatan. Small enough to cater to every individual need, professional and well staffed enough to handle everything imaginable. At the Blue Bahia a simple hello can easily turn into a 20 min conversation about this beautiful island treasure known as Roatan, Honduras, life's gifts or jus shared human commonalities. Simply put, this is the most friendly, safe, comfortable, universally ecologically minded, incredibly beautiful places left on earth. No matter where you are coming from or what you are looking for, The Blue Bahia has it. One is reminded of 5 star boutique suites, impeccably cared for and maintained, with fresh local flowers and the daily signs of hand-tended, high quality efficiency everywhere you look. The Beach Grill there is actually one of the best, and most sought after destination restaurants on the island. Watching the sunset, noshing on the most awesome foods I've had, fresh memories of incredible views and experiences drift pleasantly in the friendly, peaceful community atmosphere.. one can see themselves never leaving. I will return as soon as possible. Thank You Blue Bahia, for all the hard work in creating and maintaining the most perfect caribbean island experience ever.
This was our second trip to Roatan, the first time being in a West End all-inclusive during a school spring break.
This time we decided to spend a week away from the crowds and also to explorer new dive sites. Sandy Bay isn't far from west end but far enough to access sites you wouldn't from West End.
It turned out to be an excellent choice for our family of 3, we had 2 very clean bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, a living room and a great balcony with some sea view. Way more than we would have got in a normal hotel. On top of it, our room (Sea Horse), was right over the dive club, which closes at 4:30 PM, so no noise from that and a 5 second walk to get to it from our room. Definitely a record for us.
The dive shop was small but excellent. The boat was perfect for the type of dive but a bit crowded when full. However, they always come back to shore at the end of each dive so it's not really an issue. The captain was really helpful and the dives guides were all excellent with a lot of experience and very good knowledge of all sites. If you want to dive with them, contact them in advance as I think they are moving to a larger place in the coming week but from what I understood it's still close to Blue Bahia.
Management (Suzette) was very friendly and helpful to get contacts for activities, taxis, etc. They organized our transfers to airport / ferries and everything went as planned. We had some issues with the fridge the first days and they fixed it rapidly, giving us a spare one while the main one was being fixed. No complain.
The on-site restaurant is very good. We went 4 times and can say the service speed was somehow random, waiting an hour the first time, and 10-15 min the other times. However the food was always good, the lobster with a spicy Cajun sauce was amazing, we had it twice.
The hotel is at a 5 min walk from Anthony's key resort and you can do the dolphin adventure if you are interested. The hotel is also close to other restaurant, a nice spa, a zipline park, etc.
We booked a day tour through Blue Bahia to visit the island and everything went well. For about 30 US per person they'll bring you wherever you want for a full day with the possibility to stop for activities and do some sightseeing. Was well worth it.
We were also surprised how safe the neighborhood appeared to be. Locals seem happy to see us there, which is a good thing. We felt the same almost everywhere on the island.
Highly recommended if you want a quiet spot that has everything you need for diving. Both the condo and the diving prices were very good for the quality of what we got, with friendly people and good atmosphere. So that's why I'm putting 5 stars, knowing it's obviously not a 5 star rated hotel.
Excellent resort with everything you could possibly want! We stayed in The Wave condo and it was beautiful and roomy. The Beach Grill is delicious and on site, along with a 5 Star PADI dive shop.The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. We will definitely be back!
My wife spent a long time checking places and reviews about them on the web before we booked the Blue Bahia. This place had everything we were looking for. Dive shop on site, pool, restaurants but over and above, we were looking for a smaller resort where we could relax and would not be too far from night life action if we felt like so!
Well this place has it all and the level of service was beyond our expectations. Quiet, safe and beautifully maintained and managed. We loved just about everything about this place. In fact we loved it so much that we already booked there for next year.
Our family of 4 stayed in The Wave at Blue Bahia for a week in June. It's a lovely, quiet and beautiful resort. The condo is spacious, cool and with everything you could need. Beds are comfortable, and kitchen well appointed. You can hang on the porches, swim in the pool right out front, or go down to the beach for snorkeling.
Super friendly and helpful staff, with a full service breakfast / lunch / dinner at the onsite Beach Grill (right on the beach) if you like. We enjoyed a variety of meals there. My kids immediately made friends with the bartenders, and the resort dogs and cats. Beautiful sunsets and beach bonfires each night. Octopus Dive Shop were also very friendly and sweet and patient with our kids for intro class.
Location in Sandy Bay is convenient, not too far from the needs (grocery etc) in Coxen Hole, and close enough to the wilder activities of West Bay. Swimming with dolphins at Anthony's Key is a short walk on beach, as well as a handful of other yummy restaurants reachable by a walk.
