This hotel was THE very best hotel experience of our lives.. All the possible variables combined to create a spectacular stay -- we loved this place and could have stayed there the rest of our lives. It is situated on the most beautiful lagoon, which was SO user friendly!!. The OW Bungalows allow you free access to the crystal clear water, fish and awesome snorkeling, right from your deck -- and, you could dial your own depth! And talk about a comfortable deck!! The roof protects you from the sun, and the railing comes up just to the right level (to set your drink on, lol...) and you have lots of privacy sitting out there, overlooking the gorgeous colors of the lagoon, with the reef break on the outside, and a view of the island of Tahiti to the east -- The Sofitel Moorea bungalows were idealic! We had everything we needed, and nothing we didn't -- they were PERFECT!! The shower water pressure will blow your mind, and the A/C was NICE AND COLD, but we did spend most of our time out on the deck, or in the water... The staff was amazing -- thank you everybody (Tametai, Lionel, Laurent in the gift shop, Samantha and Elena in activities, Anne-Laure and I'm forgetting some people, sorry, but they were ALL wonderful, friendly, helpful, and treated us like we were the most important guests in the world.... The food was pretty darned good, with a nice variety at the breakfast buffet, and, Tahitian Dance Shows during dinner -- I had a massage at their SPA, which was relaxing and memorable, done outside, overlooking the beach and water -- in the balmy trade wind breezes, ahhhhhhhh.... The grounds were immaculate. ANY need that you had was handled immediately, and with a smile -- in fact, EVERYONE THERE smiled and said "I'orana" whenever we passed. Language was not a barrier because most of the front desk staff spoke French, Tahitian, English and some spoke Spanish and Italian too!! I don't know if our experience was typical, but they made us feel like treasured guests and our whole stay felt like it was especially created in every detail, just for us!! Thank you everyone for making our stay so incredibly awesome!! One other thing -- we saw, and photographed, the hotels coral mentoring program under our bungalow area -- they are growing baby coral on an underwater hammock, to transplant into the lagoon. This perpetuates the beauty of the lagoon for everyone, and makes up for unfortunate natural events like large waves, which can destroy coral in an instant.... Judging from the abundant fish activity under the bungalows, the fish wholeheartedly approve of their program!

Room Tip: We were in room 215, which has a northeastern exposure -- we liked facing that way because of the ho...

The Sofitel Moorea la Ora Beach Resort was beautiful but the service was average at best. This started at the reception during check in and continued throughout our three days there, particularly in the restaurant we used a couple of times (Pure). Relative to cabins, I highly recommend 117, 119 and 120 - at the end of the pier with the best views of the outer reef. The water is beautiful and the fish plentiful, and the Sofitel does provide complementary gear. If you are heading to Bora Bora, I would recommend two days here and then move on. My wife and I did three in Moorea, four in Bora Bora; if we had it to do over we would do two and five. Moorea was nice, Bora Bora is great.

Room Tip: Bungalows 117, 119 and 120 - best view of the outer reef and lagoon.

Dear "OnTheRoadAgain..."

In a first end, please let me thank you for your time in writting and posting your review.
On the second end, please let me tell you how sorry we are to read that your stay with us was not up to your expectation.
The complete satisfaction of our guests in our only goal, and to read that the level of service that you experienced in our restaurant "Pure" was not up to part, is a real disappointment to us.
Would you be willing to share more details, and where the expectation short fell ?
Your feedback is the perfect opportunity for us to improve ourselves

Best Regards from Moorea

We had booked a Garden bungalow and it was worth all the money paid for. Their garden bungalow's are placed very close to beach and we could see the beach from our room. The rooms were great so was the lagoon and the staff was wonderful. I would definately recommend this hotel, though its a little far from all the attractions but, most of the activites and restaurants have a free pick up and drop service. The restaurants and food was great too.

Room Tip: Good if you are spending most of the time at the resort.

Bonjour "kkj3"

Thank you for your comments.
We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your bungalow and other amenities the resort and the island have to offer.

Snorkeling in the lagoon and discovering its aquatic life is always an amazing experience.

Hoping to see you soon in one of our property worldwide. You could actually pay a visit to our new sofitel address in Mumbai.

Stayed in an overwater bungalow for 4 nights, absolute heaven! Beautiful room, with excellant snorkelling on your doorstep. Dived with the hotel scuba diving team a couple times, would recommend the 0800 shark dive. Food a little pricey in hotel but you expect that before you arrive, a good tip would be to buy snacks and baguettes on Tahiti before you catch the ferry to Moorea, if you wish to save on costs. All in all the best hotel stay ive ever stayed at. Loved it!!

A quick note to thank you to have taken the time to post your comment.
We are glad tosee that you enjoyed your stay with us
Despite our best effort, It is true that the cost of food remains high in French Polynesia.

We spent 3 nights at the Sofitel in January, 2012, in a standard bungalow. Despite having rain a few days, the facility was fabulous and the breakfast was superb. We were able to enjoy the beach and the grounds, which were wonderful. Staff was great and having a car with us enabled us to enjoy the spectacular island of Moorea !!!
Would definitely return, especially in dry season !!!
