Guys running the place are very nice and polite.  They insisted we pay all three nights in advance - very odd and unexpected.
Additionally, they didn't have our hostelworld.com booking and we had to change rooms the second night.  At first, the place seem clean. But it was in need of DEEP cleaning - especially bathrooms and windows.
Moldy showers and shower curtains.
Our shower did not drain and we had to get it fixed (staff should have noticed obvious problem while cleaning showers).
If you have a room facing the major street it is very noisy until about ten and picks up again very early in the morning. Back rooms are slightly quieter.
Hot water sporadic and goes very cold after a few minutes, light in room flickers all night (switch/bulb issue), WiFi is spotty, sheets are strange (not matching or traditional sizing).  Pillow cases first night were part of a comforter set that has seen better days. Windows and mirrors are stained/worn.
Rooftop view is very nice. Unfortunately, they don't have any seating or tables to make it functional.
No blow dryers, breakfast, or kitchen for guests.
Good location close to market and bus station.
However, I would absolutely stay somewhere different next time.

As this hotel is in the centre of Otavalo it is extremely noisy. It is a fairly barebones hotel and not very clean. At first appearances, it looks clean but on closer inspection it most definitely isn't. I went through the room and cleaned all surfaces, switches, and door handles. The hotel administrator, Diego, is very friendly, helpful and tries hard to please and make your stay as comfortable as he can. To cut down on some of the noise from the reception area, ask for a higher up room. This will not, however, eliminate all the street noise. There are 4 or five levels to this hotel and no elevator. It also does not serve breakfast.

Room Tip: Higher level rooms, 3rd floor or higher, are slightly quieter, if you can manage the stairs.
