We arrived in Hvar for a quick day trip (in at 08:40, out at 17:35 to Korcula). Spent our morning in leisurely strolls around the town, then went for a single course brunch at the Fig Cafe (excellent btw), and then attempted to visit a museum, only to find that it had closed at noon (missed by 10 mins). In desolation and confusion we stumbled next door into Paladini, where we had a perfect grilled sea bass and salad and a wonderful bottle of the local, house white. We have been all over the former Yugoslavia, from Lake Bled to Split (so far), but this is the first meal we’ve had that was perfect in its execution of old school Europe (don’t get me wrong, we’ve had lots of great modern meals—and comfort food).
A great surprise, considering the relatively low cumulative Trip Advisor rating.
