We spent two nights at the Village Inn and it was a very nice and peaceful stay. The communication via email during our booking was extremely prompt and very helpful. The staff arranged all of our transportation and trips during our stay and the rates for the transportation and tours were very reasonable.

We came from Guilin through Li River cruise tour, which we asked the hotel to arrange for us. They had arranged for pick up from our hotel in Guilin to the dock for the cruise and pick up from Yangshuo when we arrived. The staff even called the tour guide from the cruise to make sure we went to the right place in Yangshuo for pick up.

When we arrived at the hotel, the staff greeted us with fresh glass of orange juice and some baked cookies, which were great (wish I had the recipe to make them). We also had our breakfast and dinners at the place. The chinese food at their Luna restaurant was better than the Italian. Breakfast was decent. The ginger tea we had one night was excellent! Wish we had that tea for our cold nights in NY.

We stayed in the Farmhouse room and it was great. Well appointed rooms with good privacy. The sound insulation isn't that good. We had the room downstairs and could hear the folks above us walking around. But all in all we enjoyed the room.

The staff were very helpful and attentive. They were always available for anything we needed. They were also very helpful in suggesting things to do around the area. As it says on their website, the hotel is a bit away from Yangshuo but getting to town is not that bad...also if you are spending your days doing activities this is a great hotel to come back to and relax.

Room Tip: If staying in farmhouse try to get the room upstairs.

I think I am very lucky to choose this place to stay in Yangshuo. It's very near Moon Hill. From the restaurant on the roof, the view of Moon Hill is super beautiful.
The inn is not big, but the decoration is very stylish, like the their bamboo furnitures. Everything is very clean and confortable.
The staff there is considerate, If it’s rainy, they put an umbrella outside the door of my room; when I went out at night, they gave me a flashlight. With the staff's guidance and help, we took many interesting activities and had lots of fun!
Last but not least, the food and wine there was fantastic! I love the fresh local dishes ,the western favorites and variable wine choices!
I hope I can visit there again soon!

We – a retired couple – stayed at the Yangshou Village Inn for 3 nights in September 2011 and were very pleased with it. The hotel arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport in Guilin, which is almost an hour away. This cost us the equivalent of about $50, but was well worth it compared to taking public transportation. The hotel is located in a village about 15 minutes outside of the main town of Yangshou. On arrival we were a bit disconcerted by the hotel’s situation off a busy side road, where busloads of tourists stopped to snap photos of Moon Hill – which faces the hotel - amid tacky souvenir stands. But the charm of the inn itself – modeled on a traditional Chinese country house – offset its original first impression. Our room was on the small side, but more than adequate, with air conditioning and a comfortable bed. The bathroom shower had good pressure. Although breakfast is normally served in the lovely orange grove out front, for the drizzly days we had during our stay it was served in the covered rooftop restaurant/bar. The Luna restaurant is pleasant with a good direct, highly photographable, view of the crescent opening in Moon Hill. Breakfast was good English-style breakfast (not included, but reasonable). Other meals we had there were tasty and fairly priced. The Luna restaurant was labeled as Italian but it also had a fusion of western and Chinese dishes. All hotel and restaurant staff were extremely amiable and accommodating, with good to excellent English. It was only a five-dollar taxi ride into town, where we went each day – mainly to enjoy coffee at the excellent Café Ming Yuan on the Li River waterfront. The Inn provided bikes, which could have used a little tuning, but which were fine, for a pleasant guided tour of the countryside and rural villages. We arranged our own excellent English-speaking guides (contact Richard Chen at richardtour6@hotmail.com or tel. 13507839490) for the bike ride and for a wonderful Li River boat ride through the recommendation of friends, but the Inn would have done so at similar fair rates. Overall, the Yangsou Village Inn was a wonderful, quiet respite from the hectic centre of town and from the rest of urban China, and we recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front have a view of Moon Hill from their balconies.

The staff put a lot of effort into being friendly and the service was pleasant, personal, conscientious, flexible; really non-Chinese. They were able to solve problems we had with the hot water and also make exceptions on the menu.

Unfortunately the restaurant was not what we had in mind after reading the other reviews. The bruschetta was enjoyable, but involved some stella use of garlic and sweet bread. The oil also had no taste (we had our own bottle of olive oil that we doused everything in). The pizza was bland and the cheese rubbery. All together though, it was at least as good as any restaurant we tried in Yangshuo.

The room had a peaceful and light ambience, and I was shocked to experience what a simple luxury a non-hard mattress can be. It was a slightly small room but very practical and well thought through. It managed to stay in a local rustic style without giving the feeling one is sleeping in a barnyard.

Wifi was usually good- with occasional patchy speeds.

There were great views from the rooftop and the rooms. The location was OK for us because we had a car, which might be a slight inconvenience in some respects but most things in Yanghshuo require transport to reach anyway.

A very positive experience.

Room Tip: The main building is lighter, drier and more insect proof than the farm house, which focuses on char...

I recently stayed at the Village Inn on Sept 20 for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted by Lin with a cup of ginger tea. The hotel made arrangements for us to be picked up from the Guilin airport. The ride is about 70 minutes and cost 280 yuan. The rooms and grounds are very clean and relaxing. The roof top bar is a great place to have a drink, talk to other guest and to enjoy the scenery. Each day the staff updates the guest board next to the entrance with the names of all their guest. The courtyard is a beautiful place to enjoy breakfast. The staff greets you as you come downstairs to make sure you are not waiting for breakfast. We took advantage of the ping pong table in the courtyard as time permitted. This is a place where you can do as little or as much as you want and be very happy. The staff always made time to help their guest with tour reservations, scheduling taxi's, or renting bicycles. On this trip the hotel staff made reservations for me to attend a cooking class, night city lights show, a trip to the village of Fuli/boat ride down the Li river, and a night time fishing show. I can not say enough nice things about the Lin, Anna, Amy, Michelle, and the rest of the staff. I would highly recommend the Village Inn and hope to stay here again some day.

Room Tip: A room with a view of Moon Hill is wonderful. You can enjoy this from your balcony.
