I was pleasantly surprised by the the standard of the hotel bearing in mind Jiayuguan is an isolated city in north China.
The room was very spacious with a large double bed, modern bathroom and balcony with view of the snow capped mountains overlooking the city.
The breakfast was very good buffet with mainly Chinese dishes.
The guests consisted mainly of groups of Chinese tourists.
The only negative was the problem of communication with the reception staff. They spoke virtually no English. When i checked in they were very welcoming, but within 5 minutes of checking in to my room, there was a knock on my door from one of the receptionists who aggressively said that i should go back to reception and pay for the room. When i went downstairs to pay the staff were not so welcoming and made it clear that they would rather i paid cash than by credit card.
Despite this irritation i would definitely recommend this hotel. The location is very central and the room was really nice. The hotel also represented good value for the money i paid.More
