Interesting hotel, it is well equipped and looks lovely on the inside, but it is stuck in the front of what appears to be a ghost town about 25 mins drive from Yellow Mountain Town. The rooms are huge, comfortable beds, walk in robes, massive bathroom but the view is of the unfinished homes all around it. The breakfast room is nice and there was a good selection of both Western and Chinese food. It is a pity that the rest of the resort was not finished as there is potential for restaurants in front of the hotel but nothing looks finished. We did not get a chance to use the swimming pool but apparently it was really nice. There didn’t appear to be much chance of getting taxis so you would best to stay if you drive there.

Our stay was not great. We were on a tour through Intertrips. The hotel is beautiful out side but terrible inside. We were there for 2 nights. Inside the lobby, the temperature was 83 degrees F. Ditto for the dining room. I was lucky and had a room where the A/C worked but automatically turned off by management during the day and would go no lower than 21C at night. The room was medium clean with a decent bed 2 of my friends and the tour guide were in a room 2 nights with no A/C at all. When they complained, it was not fixed and they were given a small fan for which they were charged extra. Breakfast was in the hot dining room and the food ran out before everybody ate. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid, this dump. They must have paid people to write the good reviews.

Room tip: You're on your own.

I was part of a tour group staying in this hotel. When I first heard Howard Johnson's I asked if they were still in business and thought of some of the horrible ones in the US. Nothing prepared me for arrival at this Grand Castle! The hotel lobby is breathtaking. The rooms are cavernous and feature everything you could possibly hope for.

The breakfast was disappointing. Very few Western items (at least at 6:30 AM). I get it.. I'm in China and not everything will cater to Westerners.

Interestingly enough though for dinner, I went to their Western restaurant and the food was fantastic! The cheese burger was done to perfection and tasted great. Service was acceptable, too! Go figure.

The hotel is a bit of a ways from town so you will need a taxi if you want to go there. Overall though the trek from town is worthid given the luxury of this wonderful hotel.

Room was vey clean and roomy. Hotel was well kept. Staff spoke little English but we found this to be the case every where we went as we went inland in China. Breakfast was good with little western foods though. Quiet area just outside the city center. Short taxi ride to the city Center.

Very big and beautiful, but almost creepy. Rooms big but not that nice. Had to ask for toilet paper, as there was none in the room. Room was very hot, no A/C. Breakfast buffet is horrible and extremely crowded, poor selection. Would not recommend.
