Owner description: Better known as the Jumping Cats Monastery for its cats trained to jump through hoops.
Reviewed 2 April 2017

Seems like the cats have gotten fat and lazy and don't jump any more. However, the Monastery is very nice. The monastery is built of teak and gold leaf in the style of Shan Buddha. There are a variety of unique Buddha statues.

Enjoyed tour of Nge Phe Kyaung Monastery. I enjoyed the art work of the history of Buddha with English subtitle. This gave me more insight of Buddha and his life. If you are interested in learning more about Buddha, I recommend you to visit here.

Great to find an old teak monastery among the floating villages at Inle Lake. Hundreds of visitors every day so go early or late to avoid the crowds and boat jams.

This monastery I will remember, because of the photograph I shot of the monk sitting and reading in a beam of sunlight in the otherwise dark interior of the monastery. The image demonstrated serenity and dedication while being very peaceful at the same time.

Other than thr fact that part of this monastery it built over the lake, there isn't really much to see or do at this location. Due to the touristy nature of this place, some of the locals have set up shop outside the monastery, and you could get a drink if you like. Otherwise, take a break in the cool shade of the monastery
