We just spent a weekend at Pousada Picinguaba... and we were positively surprised! The place is a colonial house in the hill, hidden in the middle of tropical forest... facing Pincinguba's bay, north of Ubatuba. The view is pretty amazing! We arrived Friday late night... dinner time was finished but they manage to serve us when we arrived. Breakfast is delicious and everything very fresh... as well as dinner, included. They served dinner outside on Saturday, at the deck by the pool... with candles! Besides the delicious fresh scallops, a whole fish braised on charcoal was served! Service is premium. The whole staff is amazing! If you can, try room #10. Best view with a balcony!

Dear Julia,

Thanks for your message.

We are very happy to know that you had a great experience at Picinguaba, we always recommend our guest to stay not less than 4 nights with us as we believe it is the correct time to interact with the nature that surround the property, the local people and to enjoy all the activities we organize to enjoy.

Our fresh vegetables are cultivated with love in our sister property Fazenda Catuçaba what allow us to offer tasty and healthy food in our tables.

Once again thanks for your visit.

Warm Regards,

Pousada Picinguaba Team.

This pousada is in an absolutely idyllic location above the most beautiful bay. The views are spectacular from every angle. The staff are so welcoming and hospitable and nothing is too much trouble.
The road access is difficult but the staff carry the bags for the last stretch so no problem really.
This feels like staying in a home - stylish but simple decor, good home cooking and lovely hosts. It is not a fancy 5 star hotel but all the better for it.
The organised activities are excellent and really with doing.
A super relaxing experience - highly recommended for those looking for something a little different.

This Bed-and-breakfast is extremely friendly. Quite confortable, it is run by a wonderful and interesting elderly coupl. Be ready to exchange experiences with them, talk art, literature and social awareness. The owner's daughter is a reputable astrologist.
30 meters from a beautiful fishermen's village beach, where, unfortunately, a suspicious brook dumps its waters ( swimmers don't seem to care though).Take a taxi boat to Ilha das Couves or a short walk to Praia do Canto. Spend another day at Praia da Trindade, and an afternoon in Paraty. Avoid Brazilian holidays and be ready to enjoy rainy days.

Room Tip: book in advance

3 hours by car from Rio. The last 3 km's very bad road. The last 250 m: no road at all: the hotel personnel carries your luggage through the beach sand and up a steep hill. But what you than discover is worth it all the way! Like a dream location. Nice and friendly and very personal service; maybe not fully "professional" but so kind that small or misunderstandings are not to be taken as a problem by the customer. Unless by some French customers who are used to French international hotel chains. Agree: we got an upgrade to the honeymoon suite. Not all rooms are like that one. We took the full board including all activities: we do not have any negative comment: everything went smoothly and food was very good without being the best we have eaten during our stay in Brazil.

It is a colonial style building on the slope overlooking the fisherman's beach. It has 10 rooms with a lot of personalized attention to the guest. Meals were good with an interesting choice of international wines ( I would have liked to have a selection of Brazilian wines to try). Unfortunately it rained during the 4 days I was there but I had a very restful stay and I swam in the pool anyway.

You can trek ir do boat trips around the place. There is also a deserted beach nearby. The hotel overlooks the bay and view is beautiful.

To reach the hotel, you need to leave your car in the village and cross a bit of the beach and then walk up the hill. While not difficult to reach it is advisable to pack light even if the hotel provides help with your luggage.
