The rooms are large and spacious but we found you need to keep the two wall air conditioners on all the time to keep the temperature of the room barely comfortable. TV has english BBC and CNN. The rooftop pool is small and there is an adequate workout room with treadmill, elliptical, weights etc. but not many hotel guests seem to use this facility. They have a hottub on the roof but throughout the time we were there it never had water in it. Despite most of the staff not speaking English all were very helpful in helping with luggage and trying to figure out what we needed. The gem of the staff is Leonardo who does speak English and was helpful at making dinner suggestions, in arranging reservations for dinner and arranging tours to the wine region. Breakfast has a good selection of fruit, coffee, juices, cold cuts and cheese, breads, scrambled eggs and hotdogs in tomato sauce. The hotel is walking distance to the central market which also has the starting point for the hop on, hop off bus and walking tour of the historical region. Many good restaurants in the area. This is not an expensive hotel so for the price point I believe it to be good value.

Room Tip: We were on the 12th floor. Views are not impressive

I spent 5 days at this Hotel with my son during WC 2014 and frankly I was impressed by the very spacious room that we stayed in. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel offers one of the best Breakfast buffet we had in Brazil and we stayed in quiet few Hotels.
To get to this hotel from the Airport ( DO NOT go to the Rodoviara (bus station) as some suggested in the reviews it is very dangerous area instead take the Bus that goes from Airport to Centro for only 6 RIALS and ask the bus driver to let you off at the Plaza Hotel stop, right in front of the Plaza then walk half a block and you get to a street make a left walk like 15 to 20 yards and Voila you are at the front door of Master Palace.
Brazilian people are very friendly and helpful so don't be surprised at the end of your trip if you end up with new friends, There are many things to see in the south of Brazil so enjoy

Not a good location....not the best choice.
This hotel needs to be completely remodeled...
Rooms are kind of motel's, and old one.
Breakfast buffet is ok, but definitely you should go for a best option.

I just spent one night here, invited for a conference, so I cannot comment on price. Reception seems to be understaffed and undertrained. The apt. I stayed was huge, looked something emerging from the 70's. The bed was confy, TV one of those tube survivors with only a dozen channels. Air conditioning was based on two smallish and noisy window sets. Lots of room to work, but no wifi was available (I guess cabled internet was available, but my ultrabook has no port). The bathroom, again, was big, convenient and clean, no-frill toiletries. Dinner was pleasant, with some good alternatives for Argentinian wine, and breakfast just average. All in all, there are much better alternatives in town. Check Plaza Sao Rafael and Blue Tree Millennium for central location, or Novotel and Deville near the airport.

Room Tip: Ask an apt. with window to the rear, never to the front street.

Stayed in the high tower where rooms have not been renovated yet. The room looked a little worn, but it was clean and functional. Breakfast was good and rich - and just one floor up, so I had an excellent view also from my room (and some noice from early breakfasters).
Staff was very nice and helpfull - and there was always at least one person who could speak English whenever we needed it.
The neighborhood might not be the nicest, but we went walking around the downtown area a couple of evenings (not late so there were still people in the streets) and never felt uncomfortable. If you care to lift your eyes above the ground floor there are many very nice (and worn) buildings - and a lot of horrible concrete/steel/glass monsters.
