Nice and clean with good price rates.
Located in a quiet street of Flamengo, in a waking distance to metro, convenience stores and banks.
The rooms are well conserved and neatly keep! New equipments and comfortable and bedding!
Our room and bathroom were a bit dark with an inside view window.

Originally built about 1995, the hotel was renovated about one year ago. The rooms are small but clean, the air conditioning is noisy, but the hotel area is fairly quiet. Close to the Metro, Flamingo Beach and some shops and restaurants, the hotel is less expensive than the hotels on the major beaches. The breakfast provided is outstanding with a nice variety of fruit, meats, cheeses, hot entrees and deserts. Generally, the staff was very helpful, but our room was cleaned only once in five days, and we had to ask for fresh towels twice. After the first two days, we discovered there is a switch near the entry door that signals the housekeeper that you either do, or do not want the room cleaned and serviced. We changed the switch to desire room service but the room was only cleaned on one day.

I booked this place a month in advance with a good discount (15%) through booking.com. It's on a quiet one way street (runs from the beach esplanade back to town) in the Catete neighborhood, part of Flamengo. We were well received by an enthusiastic concierge who spoke good English and made sure we were happily settled in. Only snag here was that I had requested a twin room and on opening the door encountered a double bed. Quickly fixed with another room on the same floor. Spacious, modern, TV, mini-fridge, lots of lighting options, electrical outlets, good shower, clean sheets, quiet air conditioning, closet with clothes hangers and a safe. Standard breakfast included in daily rate, fresh juices, scrambled eggs, sliced sausage, ham, cheese, various breads both rolls and sliced, toaster, fresh fruit like pineapple and papaya, usual coffee and milk, yoghurt. Pretty good in all. Computer access in the lobby. Hotel has its own garage parking although it's a bit tight for a pickup through the narrow entrance. The hotel is close to a busy commercial street (Catete, first intersection, 150 m away), which also has a good restaurant (Catete Grill, see separate review). Room service and hotel restaurant provide good options too. Check out was easy, paid on a credit card when you check in. Good stay, helpful staff all round who spoke English and Portuguese.

Room Tip: Fifth floor is the top floor, nice and quiet.

Hotel very very noisy. The AC : Can not use it at night because of the noise . Friendly staff but too old hotel !
7 night in this hotel... it was hard.
Poor breakfast, large rooms but you can not have a rest because of the noise of the street : windows are not isolated (acoustic)

We stayed there 3 nights in a family room. We had two twin beds and 1 double bed. Their twin beds are little bigger than the twin beds in the US. Double bed was more like a king size bed and it would even accommodate 2 adults and a small child.

The location was ideal as there were 2 subway stations in the walking distance: Largo do Machado and Catete. We always used the Largo do Machado station and the walk to the station took about 10 minutes. On the way to the station, there is a Mcdonald's and a lot of pastry shops and juice bars.
If you walk to the other side from the hotel, that takes you to a main road where you can catch the bus to go to Sugarloaf mountain. When you cross that main road you can go to the beach as well.
The staff was very friendly and they speak English very well. Breakfast was very good as it was a combination of a lot of fruits, scrambled eggs, ham, cheese slices, sausages, cakes and other sweets. A variety of juices were also available in addition to Coffee, tea and milk.
They also help you to get taxi cabs. Staff would call them and give them the instructions as most of the drivers don't speak English. Our flight to the US was at 11.00pm from GIG. So we were able to check out late by paying for 6 more hours. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel.
