I have settled for 10 days in this hotel. The crews were pretty polite and kind. The rooms were too clear and internet speed was much better than my expectation and very fast.
The disadvantages of this hotel were :
1: locating in the "lapa" where is very noisy with lots of homeless people who make there a little unsafe and give bad feeling.
2: The air conditioners were very bad in a majority of rooms and we had to change our room.

I stayed here in august 2013 for 2 nights.

The rooms are nice and clean, with a television and plenty of space. The showers are amazing!! Hot and powerful, brilliant!

Breakfast was good, lots to choose from and all tasty.

The reason i marked as average is the hotel is right in the middle of the Lapa district so it can be very noisy at night if you have a lower floor. Bring ear plugs! The hotel staff were OK, not the friendliest bunch but seem to know what they are doing.

Room Tip: Higher floor, but Lapa gets pretty noisy on a Friday night and keeps going until around 6am...

First we have to remember that Rio de Janeiro downtown is a old place, unkempt, noisily and, sometimes, stinky.
So is quite normal find Hotel in downtown with these characteristic.

Arcos Rios is a old Hotel recently renovated, is clean and the room has a good size, good bathroom and well maintained,
but the air conditional system is noisily and spreads a weird smell on begin. I'm not sure if I had become accustomed with it or it has gone!

This Hotel is located at Mem Sá Avenue, this avenue is a route of several bus of Rio de Janeiro downtown and you can hear from the room every single one bus that pass through.
It is not fun when you are trying to sleep cause you need wake up next morning!

The breakfast is good, some good options and a gentle service. The lunch and dinner are good as well.
The internet access isn't so fast, but for Rio de Janeiro average is fast enough.

This is a good option in downtown if you have no option in "Zona Sul" (south of Rio). Rio de Janeiro is a touristic city and sometimes is really hard to book a good hotel in a good place. If you are going there for business and these business are located in downtown, Arcos Rio is a good option. The good restaurant will save some time when you get back tired from a hard work day. But for vacation, this Hotel wont help you to get a remarkable stay.

Remember, Rio de Janeiro is a city that has a splendid natural beauty, but the quality of service in general id too amateur. So, don't hope so much.

My stay here was booked through a tour, so unsure about the cost, but wouldn't recommend the place. Room was small and needed updating. There was a safe in the room, and despite asking the staff to unlock it, I was unable to actually gain access for storage of my passport. Breakfast was OK - good range of fresh fruit. The friendliness of staff at reception was extremely variable - some were very helpful, whilst others were just rude.

Rooms, internet, service, price, etc are ok. Their strongest points are the good breakfast and the great dinner with many options of tasty homemade food!

Excellent location thinking of proximity to places to go working. Getting out when night falls you find many many options to have a good time.

Room Tip: Rooms near the elevator looking at the internal party of the hotel are the smallest
