This pousada is located next to Paraty's Santa Rita Church and the harbor in a quiet part of the oldtown in a 17th century house.
The owners truly have an eye for detail: From the interior of the lobby/salon through the decoration of the breakfast buffet to the key chain - Everything is very charming in a cute old-fashioned style.
My room was Juliana, the standard-suite. I've already mentioned that the Pousada is located in an old house, what turned out to be kind of a challenge when it came to getting my luggage to the room on the second floor and stowing it in my room. I was on a three week vacation and had two suitcases accordingly. Once I schlepped the suitcases up the narrow staircase, I really had a hard time finding a place for my luggage or myself since the standard-rooms are tiny. Even the ceilings are so low that you can't stand straight up in half of the room.
Luckily I didn't have to spend a lot of time inside my room since the hotel also offers a pool deck and offers procurance of various day trips to the Estrada Real in the rain forest, or a sailing trip to one of the many surrounding beaches and islands.
The personell is always there for you and very friendly. In the morning you can order freshly made eggs or omelett and the breakfast buffet is small, but nice.
We felt very welcomed and safe, since they have a strict “door-policy”. You have to leave your key at the reception when you leave for a walk and have to knock on the locked door when you come back. At first it seems a bit odd, but this way the personell can exactly tell who is in and who is not so no unauthorized persons can be inside the Pousada at any time.
I would recommend to invest in one of the bigger rooms (Luz or Sofia) so you can enjoy the actually very tastefully furnished rooms. I would do so next time I'm in Paraty.

Room Tip: Ask for the Lux-Suites, since all other rooms are really tiny.

Interesting boutique posada in renovated historic house decorated with the owner's art. It's for the person who enjoys a unique experience because there are inconveniences caused by the age of the house (steep stairways and small bedrooms) and location on an old cobblestone street about 50 feet from the nearest road where cars are allowed. There's plenty of room to relax in the first floor surrounded by art and antiques. A good Brazilian breakfast is included.

Really central location - close to the wharf and restaurants.

The staff were amazing - really friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was great lots of options all very tasty made fresh in the kitchen next door.

Would definitely stay here again.

The most important aspect - the staff - they were all friendly and helpful. The front door is kept locked at all times and you must request access or exit. A bit odd and I'm not sure why this was but someone was always available to open the door and it naturally increases security. We did struggle a bit with the size of the room though - it was as though it was built for hobbits. Very easy to whack your head or your toe on things and this we did frequently throughout our stay. The bed was good and there was a nice view of the harbour. The windows didn't fit too well though and this did allow mosquitoes to get in. The bathroom was also 'bijou' with a shower that wasn't really up to the job and a basin with just cold water. There is room for luggage as long as you travel relatively light. The Pousada is actually on a tidal street (as are many places in Paraty [pronounced Parachee by the way]) so you can watch the tide come in past the front door.

Good Night Mr. Bath
Thank you very much for your comment.
Our pousada is a nineteenth century house , unfortunately we can not make enlargements to be a house with historical value .
Our Japanese style room in which you have lodged a sloping roof overlooking the mountains.
We will take into account your recommendations for better our service.

Best regards!!

I loved this place from the beginning. It was such a great change from the dull hotels that we had previously been in.

After a long day we arrived at 2am and we're greeted at the door by a Gentleman who didn't speak much English, but still managed to be polite and helpful. The bed was definitely welcoming and we had a great nights sleep. They even kept breakfast open a little longer for us, knowing that we were in so late!

All of the staff were helpful and friendly and each gave us advise on where we could go. It made the trip so pleasant.

The room itself was small but clean. We had our own balcony too which was lovely in the morning.
The resident cat was also very friendly. She slept in the room a couple of times (although she was easy to remove from their if you didn't want her in).

I would definitely stay here if we were in the area again!
