It was a surprise a great surprise to see how the daughter of a fisherman embraced her culture and transform a daily sea food caught by their family in a sophisticated dishes. The Chef Danila dos a great job creating new dishes and teaching the kids from Buzios at the restaurant, also a chance to pass the knowledge she developed for future generations from Buzios.
I do recommend you request Kiko the manager to teach you his delicious caipirinha recipes. It is a great Brazilian drinking class and you also can received a certificated of a Brazilian Caipirinha expert. You will love to learn the traditional caipirinha + the other spicy flavors added by Kiko. Its a great opportunnity to make some videos and share with your friends and family. I loved it.
My suggestions: Start your experience at velho do Mar with a Calamari with manioc flower staffed, caipirinha drinks, Brazilian pastries and them go for a special fish with a black rice, salad and shrimp Moqueca.
The house also serves awesome craft beers and you need to ask Kiko about the beers of the week. There some good selections.

The restaurant is a small place, very cozy and familiar. I would suggest you to go for a dinner, because the time the restaurant prepares the food you can check the Gorgeous sunset at the pier. This is the famous spot for a sunset in Buzios.
