It is a big hotel located on a quiet place, however distant only some steps of the beach, the noisy promenade and the beautiful light house "O Farol"!
It has a nice place for tourists to sit in the front of it. It is like a spacious veranda, where there are tables and chairs, benches, and you can observe the beautiful Bay, beach and curious customs local people have. There are some restaurants right across the Hotel, however, I recommend you to have dinner or have snacks in the open bar or restaurant of the Hotel. It is delicious and not expensive food. It was a great place to spend our vacations and I would definitely come back to this Hotel and to this City!!! I loved it!

Room Tip: The rooms that look at the sea are great!

The hotel is old but very clean and the stuff is very friendly and helpful. The location is also very good, located across the street from Porto da barra, a small but very nice beach. The hotel has free internet in the lobby but the internet does not work in other public areas of the hotel such as the swimming pool area (even the paid internet). In the rooms, you can get internet for 15 Reais/day. The quality of the paid internet is better than the free (as expected) but as I said before, it does not work in all areas aside from the rooms. The worst aspect of this hotel is the elevators. They are very old and take and average of 3-5min to get to the floor where it was requested. This seems a minimal aspect but when you are in a 10 floor hotel, in which you need to take the elevator several times a day, this is frustrating. The breakfast is really good, especially the tapioca and omelet. However, the line to get these two itens can get quite long and you may wait 20min for your tapioca or omelet. The recreational area is great with an awesome swimming pool and reclining chairs. The rooftop of the hotel has a sauna (that is a bit scary), a gym with a lot of broken and old equipment (but the treadmill does face the ocean :) ), and it also has some chairs. It is a perfect place to watch the sunset. The rooms are spacious and clean. Overall a good hotel for its price but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Nice and clean hotel room , very nice reception work , only one thing we had problem when first arrived about using internet at the room , you need to buy the internet card 15reais for a day to use wifi in your room . We were not really happy but at the end the receptionist gave us free for 2 room ( 6 people ) to bad i forgot his name to thank here ..
So if you always need internet .You have to deal with the hotel before . Or better book with booking .com
I thing the manage of hotel need to chance that just add 15reais / day in the price when the cliente book .. because no internet said : Free wifi but not really .., only free at lobby so you need to seat at lobby to using wifi ..

Not the best hotel to stay with children...Praia do Barra is not a safe place at night...prostitutes and junk walking around ...although Police station is 3 min from the hotel. The hotel facilities are not the best...breakfast buffet is one of the worst I've tried...and pool is small.
Rooms are old and AC working really bad...Think it twice before the make the booking!

Arrived at this "4 star" hotel for a 3 night stay - thank god it wasn't any longer!
We had booked a triple room for three people. When we arrived it became very clear that our room had been given to someone else even though they were checked in at 2:30pm. Firstly the hotel tried to squeeze three of us into a double room and put on more single bed in there. The room as far too small for this and all three single beds became just one super kings size bed since they were so close together.
Having paid for a triple room rightly so we refused to stay in a double room. The receptionist then moved us to a family room which was much more spacious until the AC leaked all over my friends bed. Again we were moved but this time given a "suite".
They "suite" was barely luxury. As soon as we walked in a smell of drainage and damp hit us in the face that was clearly coming from the toilet.
The furnishing of the rooms were terrible for four star standard. Simple things such as no light shades and instead just bulbs dangling for the ceiling. No bed side tables, no lamps, no full length mirrors. These are all basic things I would expect to see in a 3 star let alone a 4 star suite! The sofa was stained and seemed years old. Wires were hanging out of walls. The shower didn't drain until hours after. The tap fell off the sink and worst of all someone else waste came up our toilet when we flushed the train and nearly split all over our bathroom floor. The toilet problem was fixed quickly but I understood more as to were the bad smell was coming from after that. Last but not least there is a door connecting your room to the one next door - which is quite common in hotels. What isn't common in hotels is for this door to be paper thin. If someone was to put a light on next door it would sign into our room it was that thin. On top of this on the last night we had a very early flight and was due to check out 4am. We were woken by our next door neighbours screaming and shouting and even later on when they were just talking the door was so thin we could hear every word. Resulting in us getting about 2 hours sleep.
An absolute disgrace of a stay. Furthermore if you need Internet do not stay at this hotel as you only get it in the lobby and for one device in you room and even that doesn't work!! I have really never stayed in a hotel like this - I have stayed in more pleasant hostels.
The breakfast was okay and a good choice of bread - just stay away from the moulding fruit.
If you want to stay in a 2* hotel and pay 4* prices then this is the hotel for you - if not steer far far away.
