I booked this hotel for Quarter Final World Cup time and prices were extortionate but I could not find anywhere at that time that did not have prices at least 3 times the normal level for the time of year.
At a sensible price this hotel is adequate but for £90 (over US$150) for a twin room per night it was very bad value.
The room was basic, shower had plenty of hot water but how glass door did not smash as it slammed against the stone wall each time I got in and out I am not sure. Breakfast was plentiful but not of great variety or quality.
The location was Rio Vermelho, a suburb of Salvador about 35 minutes by bus from Praca da Se and Pelourinho. There are some restaurants nearby but you have to walk along a dirty road and avoid being hit by the traffic which does not seem to respect lights nor speed limits.
Having said this, the hotel staff was helpful and friendly but I would not consider this hotel again.
Despite police presence in Salvador centre we met three people who were mugged in broad daylight, at least one at knife point. We consider ourselves lucky to have escaped unscathed.
I have been to Salvador 4 or 5 times and cannot imagine going back there any time soon.More
