I went to hotel Estalagem and I really appreciated the location and the employees. It is a few meters away from the fish market, which is beautiful and for which you must pass by in the morning to take beautiful pictures! It is close to the ferry that takes you to Arraial d'Ajuda and its beautiful beaches.
On top of that, the employees are extremely nice and willing t help you on any kind of matters (organizing visits, and more).
The only bad point is that the Internet is slow. But when you go to Brazil you are not supposed to watch online movies!
And I just want to add that the owner, Renata, speaks a perfect English, which is very rare in the region. Additionally, Bahia Active is a bike tour agency which is located right within the hotel, and owned by Renata as well. I found it very convenient to be able to book a bike tour with Renata and talk to her face to face about the details.
I recommend this hotel!

Charming little hotel, renovated nicely, extremely close to the airport, 10mins walk into town and the breakfast was really good (fresh fruit, hot food, plenty of choice). Staff spoke next to no English and there is a nightclub four doors down who thump out music until the small hours, so don't expect a good nights sleep at weekends!

Room Tip: The rooms at ground floor are the quietest, go for one of those.

The hotel is located in a traditional building from 1810, carefully and tastefully renovated. The rooms in the old part (closer to the road) are smaller, but have a lot of charm, some offer unique features like a terraced layout and a small wooden balcony, and updated baths. The rooms in the new building are modern, overlooking the small pool. The small bar / breakfast area is between the two buildings. Helpful and friendly staff, although not all of them speak English. Internet is free and the walk to the town center with a lot of restaurants and shops as well as to the ferry (balsa) takes about 10 minutes only. The really nice beachas are located further north or south of Porto Seguro.
