“Boipeba island- a tropical paradise”

Boipeba was recently voted the best island in Brazil and for once I agree. It is certainly one of my favourites and I go back every year for the traffic free tranquility, the long sandy deserted beaches fringed by palmtrees, the colour of the sea, the lovely laid back pousadas and particularly Mark's wonderful food at the Pousada Santa Clara restaurant. I can only imagine that Peter122 went in peak season when prices rocket (as they do everywhere in Brazil) as normal prices here are very reasonable. This is a place to come if you just want to chill out in tropical bliss without any kind of resort-type infrastructure and away from the masses. For me at least that is paradise!

Enjoy the island for it's natural beauty, uncrowded beaches, and warm blue waters. Visit Piscinas Naturales for great snorkeling and have a fresh agua de coco when your done. Just chill and hike around the island, sit on the beach and read a book or lie in a hammock and enjoy the acai bowl. It's a slice of paradise right here on mother earth.

my wife and I spent 4 days on this very beautiful island, next to the probably more famous island of
Morro de Sao Paulo near Valença, Bahia. The nature is worth a trip but prices are outrageous. Infrastructure is very simple and most of the restaurants or pousadas do not provide adequate
hygiene, I got a serious infection there. (e.g. a simple, dirty and stinky hole, called pousada Marina costs 180 - 200 R$ plus 10 % service)
It's a such a pity that a beautiful place like this island gets destroyed by short minded people only looking for easy money without thinking on long term investment keeping in mind that that the place
only attracts tourist as long as it is beautiful. furthermore the bad example of how a an island gets on the bad side of tourism is close next door (morro sao paulo, which used to be a paradise but now has a
pousada - favela ... ).

One of the most beautifull placs in Bahia! the color of the sea is unforgetable. The river the crosses the sea is so nice to swim . The mix of a huge forest, river and sea makes the view so special. Nice places do eat sea food, even on the beach. Charming hotels, quiet town.
