5 stars, A+, it can't be described any better than that! From all the IHG hotels I have stayed at, this one rates at the very top. The accommodations were amazing and the food was even better - I just can't stop saying enough great things about this hotel.

We've stayed at other hotel Indigos in the past and had been quite impressed. This one was definitely not worth the money. From the grumpy staff, to the poorly trained cleaning crew, to the pokey little room, to the poor quality decorations, to the constantly dripping shower the only thing positive I could say was that it is in a decent location in Alexandria. But they charge for parking while you can park on the street for free (just get an online visitor's parking pass). I felt I was staying in an older Hampton Inn with less amenities.

Room tip: Choose another hotel

Right on the river front, walking distance to great shops, restaurants and pubs. Take time to take in the history of Old Town. The one small down side is their parking garage is small and at the present its self self parking. The one note to this if the demand is high they staff that will open up triple parking spaces. Just a mile up King St is the metro, there is a free trolley service that runs the length of King St

Room tip: overlooking the river, better yet one of the balcony rooms

To me Alexandria is the nicest area of DC. and one of the most expensive. I am sure this is why this Indigo "ain't" cheap.
Located right on the water- a couple of blocks from the hundreds of restaurants on King street- you will be happy here
Room clean- beds comfortable- quiet- and maid service outstanding. No pool.
No breakfast but the Cafe du Soleil across the street does the job and opens at 07:00
The only thing that drove me crazy- almost $300 a night + $30 parking + no free breakfast AND THEY CHARGE FOR WATER AT THE FRONT DESK. Almost lowered them to 3 stars for that alone.

Room tip: The water front rooms are more expensive but worth the difference

If you're in Alexandria, it's hard to beat this location with river view in the heart of Old Town.

It's great that it has parking though the garage does get pretty tight on weekends.

The Hummingbird restaurant is very well set looking out towards the river and has nice menu and service.

The rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly.

All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Room tip: Treat yourself to river view if you can
