I've been to Rudy's countless times now in the 3 years I've lived in Austin. We regularly get it catered for special occasions at work, I'll pick it up sometimes to bring home for dinner, and yet I never get tired of ordering and enjoying Rudy's BBQ.
When trying other BBQ in Austin, my first question is always: is this better than Rudy's? In general, if the BBQ isn't at least as good as Rudy's, I'll never go back there since Rudy's restaurants are everywhere.
However, really solid BBQ is just one part of what makes Rudy's so great: they also provide what I would consider the highest level of customer service you'll experience at a "fast food" style restaurant. You'll always be greeted kindly by the employees, and if it's your first time they'll make sure to explain how the menu works so you won't be intimidated while ordering.
This location is also right next door to their management offices for all the local Rudy's restaurants, along with their other properties like Mighty Fine. It makes me feel like this is pretty much the flagship Rudy's, and I know for sure I've never had a bad experience at this location.
Whether you're wanting cheap and delicious breakfast tacos, really solid brisket and turkey, or my personal favorite the jalapeno sausage, you really can't go wrong at Rudy's.
