The place was recommended by family who usually know the good places to eat. We ordered several dishes-naan, curry, etc-all just OK. My tandoori chicken was rubbery and had no taste-very disappointing. I would not rush back. That said they were doing a fairly brisk take-out business, so maybe it was what we ordered.

Dinner here was a very disappointing "non-effort" from a kitchen that just does not care. Why else would they not bother to drain water off an already soggy saag paneer? Or just drop vinegar into the lamb vindaloo instead of letting it sit and tenderize? Or put onions in raita because they must have run out of cucumber? (Or do onions cost less!)

Chicken tikka masala was okay, not great. The naan was fine. But there is absolutely nothing about Saravor to make one want to eat there. A reasonable portion size for the a la carte dishes, or the bargain thali enhancement for $3 (raita, dahl, vegetable, soup, dessert, naan and rice) are meaningless when there is no flavor or finesse in the food preparation. I feel confident in saying that this restaurant is below mediocre when I recall the sad vegetable dish featured in the thali, which was totally flavorless, textureless vegetables in a gross watered down masala sauce. The mango pudding dessert on the thali was grotesque. On the plus side, our server Eric was very pleasant and parking is plentiful. Otherwise, totally lousy.

Our dining experience at Sarovar started out with the waiter messing up our order and asking if we were the ones who ordered the item with the really long name. Then we waited for our iced tea and waited and waited. Our dinner finally came but still no tea. We were informed they were still making our iced tea, followed by a quick, "Oh, wait they might have put it back." Put it back? Put it back where? Then we finished eating, and waited and waited. No waiter would come near that section of the restaurant. Finally we flagged down the person busing tables and asked for our waiter and two to-go boxes. We got one box and no waiter. So after another 10-15 minutes with one plate of food already packaged up, we had to stand up and wave down another waiter. Ours had come near the table and smiled when we waved at him, but he had not come to see if we wanted anything. But the other waiter seemed to understand and came to the table. We asked for the check and another to-go box. We actually got the check, but no box. Out of curiosity we stayed after we paid to see how long it would take to get attention and a second to-go box. Wasn't much longer than 5 minutes before we flagged the person busing tables and got another to-go box. To be fair, I will talk about the food. We ordered two meals. Both were supposed to be medium spicy. One was mild to medium and the other was near scorching. The food did taste good though. Worst service I have ever had. You have your choice of the incompetent waiter who does not even know what is on the menu, or the surly waiter who sort of responds to some of your requests.

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but I went today and found out they don't have mangolasse as part of the buffet anymore. :-(
Still, its a great deal.

Tasty food. Nice variety. Not too expensive. Service varies, and it's a little run-down.
