Most of the collection is "home life" articles -- things people actually used. They have a spinning wheel exhibit and demonstration once a year as well as an annual quilt show (at different times of the year). The building itself if an authentic piece of the Oregon Trail history. All of Aurora is fun to walk around and visit all the antique stores.

If you enjoy history of a colony, especially in Oregon, try, the museum and colony complex from the settling of Aurora oregon. Also, if you have read historical fiction writer Jane Kirkpatrick, this visit is especially enjoyable as she has written 3 books about the development of this area. If you can arrange to take a tour from one of the volunteers, so much more educational. While there eat at Cristas Cafe, great. Also lots of antiques stores in this town

High point of a historical village where you can spend a very pleasant afternoon. The village was a German American communal religious endeavor during the latter half of the 19th Century. On the rail line between Portland and San Francisco, it now has the Portland area's best collection of antique shops, some with small cafes.

Great piece of little known history , Oregon's long ago failed venture into collectivism and communal living. They tell the story well with pictures and words. After the museum , take in all the great antique stores.
