“Nice hotel could even be beter”
Reviewed 18 August 2011

Had a very nice stay with my mother in this hotel. She is 80 years old so the stairs were
sometimes something we had to do in phases. Hotel is very nice and the staff is really doing its best to provide everybody with the best service but..... this is Turkey and they
do not really realize that standards are higher in other parts of the world. I think in a hotel of this category the orange juice should not be charged as an extra (with breakfast). With 90% non-turkisch gast the whole breakfast (also lunch and diner) should be catered to a more international tast.

Stayed here for a few nights during August 2011 - while the hotel is on top of a rather steep hill, the view is so incredible you don't notice the walk up after a while. The rooms were spacious (we stayed in Room 606....any room along that corridor is great) and had a private balcony, overlooking the castle/harbour/bay. There are two beaches at the bottom of the hill, one to the left (very nice, plenty of room) and one to the right( cheek to jowl room only, not very pleasant).... but worth taking a taxi further out.
The pool was perfect at the end of a long day, and breakfast was always excellent with Lavazza coffee every morning......beds were very comfortable, and a/c was very welcome. Bathrooms were also very spacious. We had a great time here, and I would definitely suggest it to other travellers in need of some relaxation. The nightclub at the bottom of the hill wasn't open this summer, so there was no noise to speak of.....overall, very enjoyable, clean and worth it's 4 star rating.

a quiet hotel with (we had a seaview room) fantatic view over the harbour of bodrum. The personel speak basic English but is very helpful. The breakfast is typical Turkish,

Room Tip: take a room with sea view; it's worth while

Our first room was not suitable for more than a night's stay. No storage space for suitcase, very small. We paid more, and upgraded to a junior suite. This had a balcony and a semi-separate bedroom. We didn't use the small lounge area, except to store things.
What made the hotel though, was the quiet location and the very friendly staff. Their English varied (and in all cases was better than my Turkish!) but whatever the level of English, the staff tried very hard to be as helpful as possible.
Breakfast was included, and was good. Dinner was ordinary; not a lot of local specials, and poor range of seafood; but the view from the dining area around the pool made up for the shortcomings in the food. Poolside service was good, and the pool area itself very nice.
Our shower drain did smell a bit, but got better once the water had run for a bit.

It's not terrible - just not good. Don't be fooled by hotel photos and other reviewers extolling beautiful views. They are there but from your room you are most likely to look out - from the single, very small window, onto a corridor. We asked for a queen bed, got doubles. There were ants in the room, the shower drain was clogged with hair. The standard rooms are very spartan (Monastery theme?) They are not well lit - you cannot read in room. There is only 1 chair, and no drawers. You MUST live out ouf your suitcase since there is no where to unpack.

The hotel is high on the hill, about a 15 minute walk to town, and 20 minutes back up. My wife & I are in our 70s and we had no problem. The average overweight, out of shape American tourist would struggle. Lots of stairs in hotel, but that's part of its "charm," the monastery theme high on a hill.

The pool looked nice but it was closed. The hotel is expanding & there's some construction dirt around. While we were there the construction crew severed the main water line.

There IS internet. Breakfast was good - better than average (if you like Turkish breakfasts.) Many unusual candied fruits that we didn't see elsewhere. Lots of fresh tomatoes and decent cheeses. The hot plated American style foods (eggs, bacon, sausage) looked awful. It had been there a long time. BEWARE OF THE FRESH ORANGE JUICE. It's sitting nicely out but there is a discreet sign telling you that there's an extra TL 10 (almost $7.00!!!) charge. That about sums up the hotel. It's designed to rip off guests.

Forget the prepaid awful dinners and treat yourself to a wonderful fish dinner in town.

Room Tip: Pay the big bucks to get a suite.
