Owner description: Much of the city of Patara remains buried in sand, which has helped to preserve many of the ruins. Of particular interest are the Amphitheatre, Necropolis and the monumental gate or Arch of Triumph.

The Patara ruins are truly stunning, the work that has been done to recreate their former glory conjures up that wonderful feeling of being able to see what a place was like originally, hundreds of years ago.

Greta historical ruins, well in tact. Spectacular views of the artefacts. Not a bunch of stones. It gives you the feeling that you were in that ancient city ones.

Very atmospheric and interesting ruins. When we were there, we were the only visitors. It was lovely just wondering freely around, reading at leisure the information boards and just soaking up the atmosphere. Beautiful.

Combine it with a visit to the beach which is very close. There is a small fee at the beginning of the road which covers both the ruins and the beach.

Some of the ruins have been wonderfully restored and give you a good feeling of what it must have been like all those years ago.

The small entrance fee is worth it.

Ongoing excavations are still been done and each year a little more is revealed.

Take the time to walk down the the ancient lighthouse.
