This is an open air place with a nice area to walk through and look for nick nacks, but don't expect a pay entry castle with majestic rooms and museum. Perfect round view from one of the main walls

If you come to Ankara, the castle is probably but don't get your hopes high. The place is not administered by anybody and there are absolutely no safety precautions. If you go with younger kids, you have to be extremely cautious. You can't find any information about the place. So make sure to read before you go. The castles itself of course pretty interesting and a must see however authorities must do better to make it accessible for visitors.

Ulus ankaranin gobegi yeniliklerden uzak yasayan tarih. ancak simdilerde turistler ugramiyor. kendi haline birakilmis issiz kalmis. yneinde canlandiralim.
Old town center of Ankara.. one of the most touristic place. but today tourists are lacking.. and the place is like empty although valuable.. it is like wandering on an old movie stage. more people should go there. it is a pity that tourists are lacking now..

We had a nice day visit to the castle and surrounding areas but the castle is very unsafe - especially with children. Lots of steep dropoffs with no railings. Not a good place for kids. It is a shame that they have spent a lot renovating the area but have failed to recognize basic safety.

Awesome area to walk around. This will be the best place to do souvenir shopping. Plenty of local restaurants to get some local flavor. You may not be able to find many English speaking people in this area. The streets are narrow and have a lot of character, must different from walking around the rest of Ankara. Even if you have a limited amount of time in the city, I would make visiting this area top of the list.
