I went to the hotel for twi nights with my wife.

Hotel in a good location, nice building and good service

Rooms were comfortable (good king bed), breakfast well presented and good quality.

Very long queue for check in and check out, they have to improve those proceses.

In general it is good place for visiting Manila.

Very nice historical hotel centraly located in Manila. Rooms are very good and large allowing a working stay.
The hotel is a little bit "old style" and should maybe a bit renewed.
Excellent price for a 5-star hotel!

Check in was painfully slow. If the staff went any slower they would be moving backwards in time. Nowhere have I seen it taking 30 minutes to check in one guest.
The room we reserved wasn't ready at the time of check in even though we weren't early so we had to wait to be reallocated.
The room we ended up had a view of a roof with a broken aircon unit...but meh, that wasn't a big deal.
The hotel itself is a stunning architectural landmark, with glory of the past days preserved, and during our visit, decorated quite tackily for Christmas.
The room was spacious, with dated furniture, and fresh comfortable linens - the overall impression was nice...until the sun set, that's when we spotted a couple of cockroaches. Very disappointed with lack of pest control - not a single hotel during our 2 year stay in Philippines have we stayed in a hotel with pests! The bath plug was broken and had to be fixed by the engineer, we were missing a bathrobe and the battery in the tv remote needed changing - all small things, which surely could have been fixed BEFORE we moved into the room.
The pool area is nice but dated, could do with a refurb if the hotel is to stand up to a 5 star name, also never in my life have I witnessed the pool area in a 5 star hotel blasting out Euro dance music...it was very out of place.
The nearby tent like pavilion structure was playing techno music till 12am, so the entire stunning architectural structure was swaying to the obnoxious beat...very strange how that can be allowed as it destroys the ambiance.
The buffet dinner and breakfast were grand and the food was great. The staff were disjointed in their service, and it took 3 attempts to get a glass of wine - same with coffee during breakfast.
The checkout was painful, with staff being distracted as ever, claiming our card was declined when the machine clearly said it was an internet connection failure, repeatedly. Not once were we asked if we enjoyed our stay - a standard practice even in three star hotels.
Overall, this place has a great potential but needs trained staff, pest control and some room renovation.

We enjoyed the architecture of this unique hotel, and the general feel of it. Also the service was very good. It is close to the old Spanish walled city, Intramurros, and the Lunetta park. Everything was satisfactory. The rooms felt a bit tired, they could do with a face lift.

This review is solely for the lobby lounge itself, and not the hotel in general. I gave it 3 stars considering the hotel is gorgeous! If I will only rate the lounge, it'll be 1 star.

Anyway, we dined around 3PM. We sat our self just outside the tap room. We waited for at least 30 minutes to be attended by the servers. They won't even smile, or greet us. Not a good impression since that visit is our first.

We decided to order cocktails; mojito which my friend loved, and I ended up with margarita since I originally ordered vodka and cran but was not available. For our food, we ordered a pizza. The wait time for our drinks were a little longer than it's supposed to be, and the pizza arrived maybe about 30 minutes, and the server didn't inform us that it might take that long.

The taste of the pizza was disappointing, undercooked for about 5 minutes, and the overall flavor is comparable to cheap fast-food pizza place.

Disappointing since The Manila Hotel is a 5-star hotel, and was expecting that quality of service and food in all areas of the hotel.
