“Enjoyed a superb holiday”
Reviewed 4 March 2012

We happened to choose KL among south Asian cities. This hotel proved to be the best located hotel in Kuala Lumpur. We unexpectedly enjoyed a gorgeous holiday, the price being reasonable compared with other major resort locations in south Asia. I strongly recommend the park view room overlooking the KLCC park, despite the fact that the park is not illuminated at night. Swimming pool is wonderful situated on the third floor also affording a refreshing view on the park. Might be better than the hotels in the exciting and busy Buki Bintang area.

This is a superb hotel with an excellent location.
I think KL is still a city where you can have five star luxury for affordable prices Mandarin was a great example. Very affordable and amazing value for money (breakfast was complimentary)
there were some exeptional staff, including the manager who personally emailed me and had his assistant manager phone me about the issues that I raised in the feedback to the hotel. Also I must thank the lovely staff who made us full breakfast and delivered it to our room at 5am exactly on time, so that we didn't miss out before we left for the airport.
The breakfast spread has a global cuisine and is very very good.

I wasn't very happy with the room I got, it was a corner room, not very large , with heavy wood work on almost all walls. The room A/c was not working fully. And you could hear noise from neighbouring rooms and the corridors. This noise actually kept me awake most of the last night we were there, some young people partying in their room. I was not at all happy about this
The hotel lobby is enormously large and opulently decorated and pretty.
The infinity pool area (though a bit small) - was also very good and the service for guests this area is excellent. I used the business centre briefly - crisp and efficient

Room Tip: you can choose the room outside to see the city

The Mandarin Oriental is a fabulous and fantastic hotel. The location is great, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the pool is something else, overlookig the KLCC park. If you can afford to stay here, please try it, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: The weekend room rate is cheaper, so if you are on a budget but want to try the MO, weekends are you...

We just stayed a couple of days in KL on our first family trip to Asia and can't write enough how much we enjoyed this hotel, the amneties and the incredible service.
We started by a disappointment: the chinese restaurant which we were looking forward to visit was closed for renovation so we decided to try the Mozaic restaurant which offered an exquisite buffet of many different types of food. We also tried the restaurant by the pool, which offers a lot less choice but a breathtaking view.
The pool is really an incredible experience and I will always remember arriving there the first evening, overlooking the city and hearing the prayer chants. Amazing! My child also really enjoyed the changing color floaters in the pool.
The service was one of a kind from our arrival to our departure: everytime we asked for something we got more! As an example we gave a couple of clothes for laundry and when I said I will not pay for the 1 piece that still had stains they scratched off the whole bill.
If I had 1 reproach is that sometimes waiters at the restaurants are a bit too eager and you need to defend your plates when there is not much left on them.
Totally recommend!
