The Icon Hostel building is heritage listed, close to 100 years old built in 1920. It does not look it and they have maintained the building façade and wood floors well. Reception and communal areas one of best places to meet people.
The hostel opened November 2nd 2017. In process of adding things not subtracting, The owner always listens and they help you in any way they can.
Excellent location. Close to Plaza Rakyat LRT, and free GoKL purple bus loop line transport. Go to bus stop south of Muzium Telekom if going to Buka Bintang (saves time-northbound) or go across to the GoKL stop opposite Starbucks(southbound) or just stay on bus loop and change to same bus at Pasar Sani Bus Hub. Central to walking to Tower, ChinaTown, Heritage walk area (botanical gardens), Jaya Alor and Changkat, Bukit Bintang (Pavillion and shopping area) and then on to Twin Towers. Is close to Step and Step Too hostels so all you need to do is come to this road and choose. They are all within 200m on this road. I like Icon.

Laundry facilities 6 rng/kg but have washing machines (2) plus drier. Large outside drying area on external wide metal stairway which also have some of the extra showers mentioned for each floor. The outside back stairwell is very wide, newly installed, has showers, drying area and totally roof covered.
1st Floor Accomodation & Facilities
Separate working common room with power plugs and chairs at wide windows and view of the tower. Good quiet area away from reception below.
2 x 8 bed dormitories,1 x triple room (double and single bed), 1 double (Q size), 2 x 6 beds, 2 x 4 beds. 3 separate showers and 2 toilets, washbasins.
Showers – Special mention. In my opinion after 10 months travel in SE Asia these are best ever in world. Wide heads, massive water flow and very, very hot. We wash our daily few items of clothes at same time.
A/C in rooms is fantastic. If you are tall the short blankets will be small. Plans to get bigger ones.
Wi-fi is very good indeed. With signals for front and back areas on all floors. Log in all passwords for all areas when arrive then no problems. Rod J. Australia
