This popular place was in our hotel, Wolo in Bukit Bintang, although not related to it. Since it's famous for being most Instagrammed, we came to have a look. We were able to snag a reservation for Saturday night after taking a tour of this very chic place of 2 floors with multiple bar areas & dining rooms. The main Bar area is especially gorgeous & dramatic.

Can't say enough of the hip trendy decor! Service was great. Food & Drinks were decent but not worth the hype. Creative sounding drinks but taste & presentation was ok. My daughter had their most popular drink served in a take out container, while sounds interesting was not tasty & the container not the best vessle for a drink. My coconut water was pretty as they put baby's breath in it too but that's not edible.

Our Barramundi was great! This was the best, our Fave. Shrimp dumplings decent (they weren't really tiger prawns though), Catfish char sui was just so-so with too much bread, the small plates we ordered were mixed (seaweed ok, pumpkin needed more flavor, forgot the 3rd item but remember it was good)

Getting here can be a challenge because of downtown KL traffic. Service is fast and efficent and decor is nice. Being on the 14th floor there is a great view of downtown KL. We started with the pickle board which was nothing to shout about. Then we had the chicken salad which was pretty good. The nori taco was excellent. Then the grilled aubergine was also well prepared. The tofu was also superb. The foie gras had a vaguely piquant taste but was delicious. All in a great place for a meal when in downtown KL.

Dined here for a dinner with my girlfriend. It’s located at the Wolo, the corner of Jalan Bukit Bintang. You most probably have to pay valet due to limited parking or could park either in Lot 10 or pavilion.

We really loved the interior, very classy and tastefully decorated. We weren’t happy with the lack of variety on the menu and even the taste of the food. The fried chicken which costs RM 60 tasted like the frozen chicken you’d buy from a market. Not long after, both my girlfriend and I had a really bad stomachache. We would recommend this place just for the interior and view, nothing more.

Mr Chew's Chino Latino Bar, open since May 2017, is on every "Best New Restaurant / Must Visit" list.

We had dinner there, based on the recommendation of a much younger and hipper individual.

We were not disappointed.

The elevator to the penthouse floor opens onto an infinitely Instagrammable space of wood, brick and colour. The double-high floor to ceiling windows offer views of downtown Kuala Lumpur and beyond in all directions. There is a main dining area, and more private smaller spaces on either side.

The menu is just as colourful. We whetted our appetites with a selection of fruit and vegetable pickles.

Then we moved on to:
Grilled whole aubergine with fermented beans, black sesame sauce & homemade furikake
Grilled Japanese pumpkin with yuzu pickled vegetables, watercress & coriander
Soft shell crab pancake roll with avocado, nori & light wasabi mayo
Tiger prawn dumplings with water chestnuts, curry vinaigrette & Vietnamese mint
Pan seared barramundi with spicy tamarind chilli sauce, coconut cream & pineapple, avocado, ginger flower salsa
And a side of Mr. Chew’s Special Fried Rice
Dessert was Mr Chew’s Favourites, a selection of three of their six signature desserts.

Everything looked appetizing, and everything was delicious. Especially the soft shell crab pancake roll, the tiger prawn dumplings, and the pan seared barramundi.

The service was attentive. Prompt but not intrusive. Together with the inviting space and the delicious food, Mr Chew's has hit upon a winning formula for upmarket but still casual dining.

We are going back. Soon.

Note: Mr Chew's has a two seating policy for dinner. 6pm to 8.30pm, or 8.30pm onward. I suspect reservations are required, especially on weekends.

Mr Chew's Chino Latino Bar is easily one of KL's latest favorite places to been seen. Located at the penthouse in WOLO Hotel KL, this modern and impeccably designed restaurant offers Asian and South American cuisine in delicious harmony.

We started off our dinner with some Mr.Chew’s Tidbits (appetizers) which were presented to us. RM5 for 3 out of 6 choices and we chose the pickled papaya, pumpkin and mushroom.

We ordered few tapas plus the Pan Seared Barramundi and Mr Chew's Special Fried Rice to share. First up was the Char Siew Pau; an interesting twist to the typical char siew pau. The pau (mantou) was stuffed with a fleshy chunk of catfish and Som Tam (Thai papaya salad). An interesting mixture of sweet, sour, hot & spicy; its smoky and caramelised texture was yummy, Another favorite was the Nori Taco with Sushi Rice, Salmon Belly & Salmon Roe, and Tobikko Mayo. We also ordered Tiger Prawn Dumpling with water chestnut, curry vinaigrette and Vietnamese mint; which I think was so-so.

For the mains; both the Pan Seared Barramundi and Mr Chew's Special Fried Rice were interestingly yummy. As I am not really a fish-person, the Barramundi was crispy and tender; seared with spicy tamarind chili sauce, coconut cream and pineapple, avocado and ginger flower salsa. We also shared the Peanut Butter Parfait.

Overall, awesome experience at Mr Chew. The services were quite fast and the waiters were friendly. Definitely elegant environment, good vibes, great services and excellent food! Will go back soon.
