We stayed at Namba Oriental Hotel for 12 days, so we are familiar with the place. Namba has lots of food choices, mostly affordable and delicious. A great place to stay for food lovers! There are several places for sushi, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, pudding and etc. There are also several pachinkos / casinos. If you preferred to shop, nearby Shinsaibashi has more places for that.

Usually when in Osaka we stay in Umeda as it is close to the JR railway station and Limobus routes, but we always spend some time in the Namba district for the shops, restaurants and night life. Easy to get to on the subway and we can always find a bargain at the many shops in the district. We will be back in September.

When you reach Namba area, immediately you are going to be bombarded by the street shopping, big department store, unique japanese arts and underground shopping area. There are lots to buy just be ready to spend money. I think everything japanese is expensive but then again, you are paying for the quality.

What makes the Namba region slightly different is that there is less(er) crowd and the crowd seems to be slightly older (late-twenties, mid-thirties). Possibly cos there are many offices in the area. What we like was the underground shopping arcade that connects all the major malls with the train station and the subway.

Many shops and large modern department stores where you can find everything you want!It is also in a walking distance of Shinshaibashi and Dotonbori!Do not forget to visit the underground Namba city and Namba Nam-Nam where you can find lots of restaurants apart from the shops!
