I believed TripAdvisor’s reviews and went to check the place.

Extremely overrated, food is not good at all. I ordered set with mix of beef and pork.

Beef was not possible to chew and pork was full of fat... there was miso soup in the set but it tasted for me spoiled.

Food comes with big portion of rice which is okey.

Stuff is very inattentive and looks like doesn’t care - repeating fixed sentences in Japanese even though it’s clear I cannot speak the language, not checking if person is ready to order, wants a check etc.

TripAdvisor users - was the free ice cream worth a good review? ...

Seated pretty quickly for dinner on Thursday. Don’t get tricked by the other donkatsu restaurants nearby! This one is located in the basement :)

Best katsu in osaka this is my second time eat in here.. nice place nice staff nice location. Very recommended

This is my second time visit to this restaurant on my second japan trip.
Wonderful taste and charming place, the most enjoyable place on dontonburi for eating!! Very recomended!

Gyukatsu is the real deal. I never thought deep fried meat would change my life in a way that Gyukatsu did, but life likes to surprise you. I will never see Tonkatsu in the same light again, I will always look for Gyukatsu now
