We booked a light package with costumes - show and 1h class which was just perfect. Staff is excellent with good sense of humour. I was amazed by the costumes - probably quite expensive ones, outstanding quality. Loved the whole experience.

Well this is as close you are going to get in a quick and concise Samurai intro in Japan. The theatre is in mid town Kyoto and is very accessible by the train line. We went in just for the show and not the training and Samurai sword sessions but the place was perfect to unwind for an hour.

The experience is very personal with about 20 people tops that I could spot so don't expect a Cirque Soleil here. But what was cool was the interaction and the overall show. There were 3-4 people and they did a great job in keeping the folks engaged and having a good time. There is one part where there is a Ninja and they drop the lights and he Ninja gives away some swag. My daughter who is 19 months old loved that she got a star.

Post the show you can take pictures with the stage artists and also they have detailed Samurai sessions and stuff. So if you want to go in all Tom Cruise like in The Last Samurai you can do that here! Overall an inexpensive but fun way to understand and appreciate the Japanese culture.

We took the 3 hour class and we had a great time. At first we thought it might be too long but it turned out that time passed quickly because we were having so much fun. The instructors performed for us during the first hour. We started to learn Samurai Kembu theatre choreography and the instructors were so patient with showing us the moves.
After that, we wore these beautiful costumes that the team carefully put on us in the proper way. We practiced our choreography more and performed onstage in our customer. We have great pictures and videos and still look at them to remind us of our wonderful trip to Kyoto. It was a highlight to our trip and one of the most memorable activities for my 10 year old son.

Performance was great, expert practitioners and explanations to put the show in context. Lesson was good, ideal for beginners of all aptitudes, clear instructions and friendly instructors. Good idea to wear loose clothes if doing the lesson.

This was a fabulous experience, suitable for all ages. Watch as the masters demonstrate Kembu, and then have a chance to try it for yourself. The staff are excellent, friendly and were very patient with this ancient ‘warrior’! An insight into Samurai culture that no visitor to Japan should miss! Arigato gazaimashita Samurai Kembu Theater
