“Hiroshima's only moden hotel.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 January 2012

The Sheraton Hiroshima is located about 50 metres from the exit of the JR Hiroshima station (Perfect bag-dragging distance if you're coming in on the Shinkansen) and is about a 15 minute walk into the centre of town (this is quite a pleasant walk over the many rivers, bridges that run throughout the city).

The hotel is very new and is fitted out with modern furnishings to match. The rooms are very, very open plan with no real privacy from the bathroom sink and only light shading over the shower glass. I quite liked the open feel, however it may not be to everyone's tastes....especially if you are sharing with a friend, colleague or even worse your mother!

The hotel is comfortable, modern and will make for a very pleasant stay for a few nights. I found it was good to stay in Hiroshima and then have a day trip down to Miyajima and back up to Fukuyama and Okayama.

We had a great stay at the Sheraton in Hiroshima. The location is very convenient, next to the train station and only a 15-20 minute walk to the real city center. Hotel looks very new and modern. Friendly service. Breakfast was not included in our room rate so we decided to skip the hotel breakfast (buffet style which didn't look like it was worth the price), there are many other options in and around Hiroshima station which were great. The only complaint I can think of is the internet charge, it's a thing that continues to annoy me at Sheraton hotels worldwide. Even though the charge was not too heavy (1050 yen for 24 hours), all other hotels we have stayed in during our Japan trip offered free internet. Also, there's only wired internet in the room, not wifi, but this is a common thing in Japan and it wasn't a problem for us but still good to know.
Hiroshima is a great city and we'd stay at the Sheraton again if we return one day.

We stayed here in September 2011 and it looked like the hotel had just opened. Rooms are very modern and generously sized, with a nice up to date decor. As SPG Platinum, we were upgraded to a Club Floor, which included access to the Club Lounge for breakfast and evening drinks and snacks, which is a great addition. Otherwise breakfast would have been quite pricey.

The location is very convenient, as it is adjacent to the JR station, so you're off and Shinkansen and in less than 5 minutes you can be in your room. Also convenient for day trips to Miyajima, and lots of tram lines which can take you downtown. I say "convenient" because it's not necessarily a nice location: the downtown area by the river seems a much more pleasant area, as opposed to the car park surroundings of the Sheraton... still, a 25 minute stroll will take you to the centre.

The hotel features a nice indoor swimming pool and a good sized gym. Wireless internet was not available in the rooms, which keeps bringing me to my recurring question as a frequent traveller: why in this day and age would you build a new hotel and not fit it with in-room wi-fi?? But this was really the only main gripe: otherwise wi-fi is available in the club area and lobby.

Would still recommend this hotel, especially if you are an SPG member. Extremely good value too.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our two-day stay at the Sheraton HIroshima in early November. Very pleasant staff, with both supervisors and support personnel eager to please. As others have noted, it's a new hotel, which is nice. And the location practically next door to the train station is great. As a Starwood Platinum, I got a corner room on a top floor with a good view. Room was not huge, but certainly was adequate. Now, the hotel is not in the same class of luxury as some of the more expensive, swankier places in Japan. But it's a good value, comfortable with good service. We'd definitely go back and we recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Corner upper floor room is nice.

This is a great addition to the Starwood family. No complaints regards rooms or service, though one could find the Japanese service a little idiosyncratic compared to other Starwood properties.

Locates next to Hiroshima Station, it's a great base if you're coming in on the Shinkansen and planning to explore the region.

A trip to Miyajima is a must. I spent the better part of two days there. A JR train (+ferry) will take you straight there. Tram service from the Station is also excellent. Consider a trip to the Inland Sea from Hiroshima Port. A trip to the 3000-year old Dogen hot spring in Matsuyama is only a short ferry ride away
