Although connected with underground passage accessible to many places and buildings, the hotel was located in the middle of 2 subway stations. Therefore, a bit of walk was required every time you went out somewhere.

Starbucks was inside the building, so it was great starting the day with some caffeine.

Room was good. Elevators were plenty for guests.

Might come back here if price was acceptable and comparable to other nearby hotels.

I bought the least expensive twin room & I could imagine many reviewers would speak badly of this aspect. This Hotel has many rooms and these 220.00AUD Per night rooms were a slightly upmarket Motel room yet with all the benefits of a established Hotel. The beds were comfortable well serviced and clean. Apart from it being a quite small space for 2 people it was warm & we really enjoyed the experience otherwise.

The extensive Breakfasts at the North Terrace Diner and Big Jug Japanese style grill included made up the value. It was delicious & fresh with many unique touches.

The Hotel location is fantastic. In the winter its snowing and cold if arriving on JR Sapporo station you can walk to the hotel underground exit at no.10.
We did not wish to indulge though saw a number of other high quality eating and drinking venues within. The hotel had a nostalgic old fashioned feel. It was clean staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall it was excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Depend on how much you want to spend !

Our family of 3 stayed for 2 nights at Sapporo Grand. We had 3 beds in a reasonably spacious room on the 11th floor, accessible only with room card. The coffee machine in the room with fresh supply of capsules everyday is such a bonus. A complimentary GPS phone helps us find our way easily.

The best part about staying in this hotel is the location -- linked to the underground walkway that takes you to Sapporo station at one end & Susukino at the other. It's exit 8, so somewhere in-between. As we were there in deep winter sub-zero temperature, slippery icy roads & snowing, it was great just to be able to walk in warm, dry comfort to get to the eateries & do our shopping.

At the station, there is a small yakitori place at the food street, which we have been going back to every time we visit Sapporo. Food is consistently good & reasonably priced. But go during off-peak hrs or you hv to queue. This time, we waited for 30 mins for our seats but it was worth it! Besides Daimaru, you can find uniqlo, Loft (somewhat like Tokyu hands), Bic Camera & many many other shops & eateries. H/e, they close quite early for winter, around 8 pm.

If you head in the opposite direction of the station, Odori park is within walking distance. Tokyu Hands is also not too far from the Odori Park exit. We love its 6-storey stock of goods.

The underground walkway links you to all the subway lines so no problem commuting. There are regular trains to Chitose airport & Otaru at the JR station. Tourist Information is also easy to locate at the Station.

The Old Government House is just round the corner from the Hotel.

There are 3 breakfast venues as hotel is huge. Breakfast is a good spread at the bigger ground floor restaurant. Mix of Western & Japanese.

Overall, a very satisfactory stay at the Grand.

P.S. Today, Sapporo is hitting by heavy snow and strong winds, so I am acutely aware of the convenient of the underground walkway as you mentioned.

location is convenient with direct access to the underground way. starbucks at the 1st floor. check in late, no information about the check out time, which is 11:00 and no extend policy, extra money will be charged if you miss the time. But they don't tell you. Room is ok, I booked a 3 beds room - adding one bed in a normal room. toilet and bath room at the opposite far ends of this square room. traditional japan style shower. Gym and swim pool and water in room need extra charge. no body lotion in the room. Humidifier only japanese no english need special introduction. The free mobile in the room cannot call sapporo local and no free wifi outside the hotel as it indicated.

Room Tip: Other hotels nearby may have better cost performance.
