We had a two night stay with Wendy Wu tour we had to move rooms as the air con wasn't working properly, bur other than that it was a comfortable stay. Breakfast was ok. Free water in your bedroom. Hotel outside of the center.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in November 2015 as part of a Wendy Wu tour.

- the hotel room was very spacious, modern and clean. The rooms had free wifi.

- there was a good selection of Western and local options at the breakfast buffet. The restaurant was clean, spacious and civilised.

- in the evening, there didn't seem to be any shops / restaurants open in the hotel so we ordered some room service. Just a word of advice that the people on the phone didn't understand a word of English (fair play, why should they have to?!) but unless you want to spend 5 minutes like I did saying "Fries?! No, French FRIES. No, FRIES....as in, chips?!" you might want to learn a couple of Mandarin phrases before you come!

- Although we were on an organised tour, we ventured out on our own to explore each evening. This hotel is around 25 minutes walk from the nearest tube station and it isn't that easy to find so I'd recommend taking a map.

The room smelled faintly of cigarette smoke but we had arrived in the evening and didn't inspect the room thoroughly enough before our guide left the hotel. Next morning when I wanted a bath I found a pea-sized rusty hole which had been covered by a non-slip mat and the shower head was almost hanging off the wall! We complained to the Wendy Wu guide the next morning but as we were only staying for two nights couldn't be bothered to pack and change rooms. The breakfast was awful and it was impossible to communicate with any of the staff as no-one spoke any English at all. We were told by our guide that Chinese people don't have the same standards as Westerners - not good enough and I'm sure Chinese people wouldn't be happy with a hole in the bath! The hotel management left us a 'basket of fruit' as an apology, consisting of an apple, a pear, several tomatoes and two small cucumbers - bizarre! Don't stay here if you can avoid it!

Located well away from the City centre near Xi'an's second ring road our family found the Yulong a good hotel. Like many Chinese hotels the lobby has had plenty of money spent on it and if you had enough cash you too could spend a lot on the furniture and carvings on sale. Some of the items in the lobby area were very nice and in keeping with the hotel. The room we had was on Floor 18 and was clean and including free WiFi which kept the kids happy. Breakfasts were good with a variety of Chinese and Western food available. Complementary food was in the bathroom - don't take the ones near the mini-bar, as you have to pay for those. The beds were really comfortable and the rooms air-con was a god-send once we figured out how to operate it. No problems with the constant Chinese complaint about rooms smelling of smoke in any of our three rooms. A good hotel if you have pre-arranged transport to take you places. There were no rooms ending in 4 due to the bad luck associated with it in Chinese society. Windows outside were a little grubby but rooms were quiet and away from the road.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors 15-20 numbered 02, 03 ,05 and 06 have particularly uninspired views of apartment blocks and a Tai Chi area at ground level.

This hotel isn't near much, a 7/11 (beer) and a couple of other places are along the road to the left. Room was ok, could have done with a make over, as it look tired. bed was as hard as every other bed in China however comfortable, as with most hotels you pay for everything in your room apart from the complementary water in the bathroom, take your own T bags as you pay a lot if you use the wrong ones in the room. Breakfast was good, egg and bacon, toast all buffet style which is great.
