The hostel is good value, but just don't expect more than a budget dorm room. The shared bathroom is ok, nothing fancy, just a shower and basin. Wifi is good. Bar has a lot of german beers on the menu and American food.

Maybe this is a fun bar by the river, but no way in hell should there be a hostel in this building. Smokey rooms with loud music until 3 a.m, and no service what so ever from the guy that runs the hotel. We waited two hours for our room (after a very late arrival), and the guy at the bar did't help us because "the hostel wasn't his". After a while he called the owner who "went shopping", but had no issue accepting our money before he left.

Very bad place. Food is overpriced, we had an excellent meal just above the restaurant for just 7RMB.

This is an under-tated bar that has hostel attached, ensuring that it always has people to talk to, both western and Chinese. The tables outside are along the river so make a good stop for a cold beer in the evening or a a coffee in the daytime. Staff are friendly and the food is limited but good enough.

We found this 'hostel' via Booking. The thing is - it is cool as a bar, but NOT as a hostel! Stay away! We were there on a Sunday night. When we saw that music did not stop or went down a little bit, by 1 am, we asked the manager what was going on. He said they were almost closing the place.
It was 4:15 am., and music kept as loud as before, bass beating so loud that we could feel it in our pillows even with earplugs. When asked the manager again, he just said: "well, we want to close the place as a hostel anyway - just keep it as a bar". What?!?! What happens with your guests that are paying already!? Party continued. We could not sleep until 5 am. (and had to wake up at 8 to be able to do some tours we had booked). What a waste of a nightand valuable rest time!
I suggest to visit as a bar, but if you are seeking to rest up, do NOT consider this place.

We booked a couple of dorm beds, two months in advance, as it was bank holiday in China and a lot of locals were travelling around.
When we arrived there, Cookie (the owner? I think) was a completely mess and didn't have our beds for us. She had already given them to someone else. She only had a bed for one of us.

As we complainted, she offer us to sleep in the coach (in the midle of the bar) or even in a deck chair for free. We were quite annoyed and didn't agree (obviously) so we finally slept in the same bed (90cm width, in a bunk bed).

The bar is located just next to the room and was super loud until late night. This, in addition to the uncomfortable bed for two, made one of my worst nights during that trip.

What annoys me the most, is that when I tried to complain (or made a review in Booking.com) her deffense was that we got a bed for free and agreed with that.

Sorry but NO. We paid for that one small bed, and had to sleep both of us there. Not because we wanted, but because you didn't give us any other choice. And it was bank holiday, every hotel was fully booked.

PLEASE guys, if you are reading this and considering Scoozi for your stay in amazing Guilin, just find somewhere else.

I have been in maaaaany hostels during the last few years, and this is just POORLY managed. Cookie is a DISASTER. Her small daughter is running around all the time, and when I was there she spent the night in the sofa in the bar, which is no place for a kid. Of course, this is none of my business, but it made me feel very sad to see her in that condition.
